ELF HAUL: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

So Ms. Faux's only Black Friday/Cyber Monday shenanigans were all cosmetics based and online.  I don't dare enter a store.  I might deck someone.  I know this about myself so I don't go.  I cannot see knocking over people to get to a deal and if I were shoved it... well it's just too much.  So here is a lovely haul from ELF.

First let me say that ELF makes it easy for affordable make up.  Not everything is going to be a hit, but not every cosmetics company is.  I mean... even Nars, MAC and other high end companies have stinkers.  ELF is solid though and they are soooooo very affordable.  You can get them at their website elfcosmetics.com and also Target and CVS drug stores carry them.  The only thing is that some items are online only.  So know that going in.  So here we go...  (Also since these are all from E.L.F. Cosmetics I'm not going to mention it below.  Also... all information I get on the product is from the ElfCosmetics.com website.)

1.  Eye Transformer $3

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Convert your shadows into brand new shades with these four opalescent shadows. Wear alone, under, over or in combination with your other makeup. The opal tones transform your dark color into a new shimmering hue.

  • Wear alone or in combination with your favorite eyeshadow or liner color to transform the shade.
  • Simply blend in with other color to create your unique hue.

  • What does Ms. Faux think?

I'm not sure I completely understand this product and I'm not a fan in terms of it transforming shades.  What I so like it for is to help blend  lighter shades

    2.  Flawless Finish Foundation $6

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Achieve a flawless complexion with the silky smooth e.l.f. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation. The lightweight and oil-free formula blends in naturally for a beautiful semi-matte finish. This liquid foundation applies easily and lasts all day for visibly brighter and radiant looking skin. Using our Flawless Finish Foundation not only restores uneven skin textures and tones, but most importantly, the SPF 15 protects your skin against harmful sun damage!

    What does Ms. Faux think?

If you are into a full coverage foundation, this is the foundation for you.  Ms. Faux on the other hand found it waaaaaaay to heavy.  Still for $6 and if you are looking for full coverage, this is the foundation for you.

    3.  Dark Blush Palette $6

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

This beautiful blush palette holds 4 gorgeous shades to mix and match throughout the year for a custom blended color. Great for contouring, shading, sculpting, and highlighting, these silky smooth blushes create a beautiful pigmented glow. With a mixture of complimentary matte and shimmer finishes, you can achieve a professional look every time.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

This palette is stunning and winner of a Seventeen "The Besties" Beauty Award.  I can see why.  It has a lovely pink, coral, peachy pink (reminiscent of NARS' Orgasm) and plum shade.  It is a perfect palette to have with you at all times on account that it provides several amazing looks.  Not only that, it is just $6.  Seriously this palette is amazing and a value.  Of this haul this is one of Ms. Faux's top products.  Tons of pigmentation and easy to blend.  Absolutely a winner.

    4.  Mineral Pearls in Skin Balancing and Natural - Each $8

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Indulge in a glistening sheer wash of color with illuminating, radiant Mineral Pearls, designed to complement any skin tone. 6 multi-colored pearls blend together to mattify skin for a flawless, radiant look. Choose from Natural to boost your natural radiance, or Skin Balancing for a more even complexion. The Vitamin A, B, C & E infused formula conditions and hydrates the skin for a soft, silky feel.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

First of all Ms. Faux has been wanting Guerlain's Meteorites Illuminating Powder Pearls which are $62.  Eeeeek!  Pricey!

    Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Powder Pearls

Ms. Faux however is not going to shell out $62 for these when you can get virtually the same thing for $8 from E.L.F.   Granted I don't think you get as many but I don't use this product all of the time and this is what I'm willing to pay for something that I kind of like as a novelty.  Physician's Formula used to have something similar, but so far ELF is the company that I have found to carry these delightful pearls.

    5.  Mad For Matte Eyeshadow Palette $10

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Achieve both beautifully bold or subtle everyday eye looks with these perfectly curated 10 matte eyeshadow shades. This collection of hues is ideal for shading, highlighting, and defining the eyes. The satin matte shadows can be used as a liner, on the lid, and in the crease of the eye for an expertly contoured and blended look.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

$10.  It is only $10.  Also... Ms. Faux has found that Elf's shadows that are in this type of packaging are really amazingly buttery and perfection.  Also the colors in this palette really do rival a lot of the matte shadow palettes on the market especially if you would like more neutral/natural and smokey looks.  I love this palette and use it in tandem with other single shadows I own to create sooooo many looks.  So what am I saying?  Buy this with confidence.  I do love it and it is one of my top purchases this time around.

    6.  Illuminating Palette $6

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

This beautiful illuminating palette holds 4 gorgeous complementary shades to mix and match for a custom blended radiance that captures, diffuses, and softens the way light reflects on the skin. The soft-focus powders are great for highlighting around the eyes and on cheekbones to enhance the skin with a luminous effect. Perfect for all skin tones.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

I think this palette was supposed to rival Hourglass's Ambient Lighting Palette $35 at Sephora.com.

    Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

So I don't think this quite lives up to Hourglass's Ambient Lighting palette as that palette is so finely milled and just perfect in my opinion, however it is a very nice, affordable palette to have in your repertoire if $35 seems a bit much to shell out for a palette.  I do think it is a success and I definitely will use it in order to extend the lifetime of my Ambient Lighting Palette.

    7.  Lip Balm SPF 15 - $3

What is it?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Use the Studio Lip Balm SPF 15 to relieve and soothe lips with a drench of moisture. This lip balm features SPF 15 to help shield lips from harmful sun rays. Apply balm liberally to prevent and temporarily protect against chapped, cracked or chafed lips. Try one of the tinted lip balms for just a hint of color!

    What does Ms. Faux think?

First of all this comes in several colors including clear, peach, nude, pink and rose.  Ms. Faux has all of them and I do think these are great for non make up days when just a hint of color is needed.  There are variations of these in every cosmetics line.  Maybelline has BabyLips and Cover Girl just released their new, Oh Sugar line of vitamin infused balms (which Ms. Faux will be reviewing soon - STAY TUNED).  This is less than both at $3 and I can say I do like the packaging better on this product as it looks a bit more elegant and is the perfect size for your lips.

    8.  Studio Brushes $3 - $6

What are they?  According to ElfCosmetics.com...

Buff, sculpt, and set with brushes designed for precise pick up, strategic application, and flawless coverage. Create an airbrushed effect with our Ultimate Blending Brush and for insta-worthy brows, pick up the Eyebrow Duo Brush. They’re both top rated for a reason.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

I got only three of these brushes because I wanted to make sure that I liked them.  Below are the brushes that I got.

    Flawless Face Brush $6

    Contouring Brush

    Crease Brush
I got a small smattering of the brushes just to see what I thought of them.  Here is what I thought... The face brush was sooooooo soft.  I liked it as much as some of my more expensive brushes.  That goes for all three.  Also the contouring brush was like a Tarte brush I own except I like this a lot more.  It is so narrow which makes for ease of chiseling out the nose and cheekbones.  Lastly the crease brush.  I have been wanting a bunch of crease and blending brushes so I don't have to clean my other brushes as often and I think I found where I will be buying them.  At $3 a brush the amazingly soft bristles are rivaling my more expensive brushes.

Now Ms. Faux will say this... if you are getting the ELF brushes make sure to get them from the Studio line which are black.  They do have a lower cost line that is white.  Skip those and go straight to the studio line.  You will be happy you did.  Save some cash Yo!

So this concludes my ELF haul.  I will likely be trying some more ELF products in the near future.  If you have something you would like me to review... let Ms. Faux know and leave it in the comments.

Also if ya'll love it please tell all of your friends and follow her on the following sites.  If you don't... tell your enemies and just sit back and laugh at how they were sent to my ramblings.  And remember... if you don't look good, then Ms. Faux be lookin' like a damn fool.
