What does Ms. Faux think?
Well first of all I made the leap that this was a dupe for the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms $22.50 at Sephora.com even before I read the Walgreens description. Now that I did, I do know what Cover Girl was trying to do with their "$20 lip balm comparison." It really just solidified my belief that they knew they were doing a dupe.
Now these are more like the tinted lip balms from Fresh's Sugar line, however they are scented just like Fresh, with a slightly more chemically lemon smell but it is real close. Note the chemical smell is something that should not put you off. Fresh sugar balms smell completely like sugar and lemon. There is just a little hint of something in this, "Oh Sugar" range.
I will say that the pigmentation of the Oh Sugar line is wonderful and build able. It is so moisturizing. I hesitate to say this because it really is sooooooo very good, but Fresh's Sugar is only a teeny bit better and I really think that is because I prefer the shaved off tip of the Fresh balms.
The Cover Girl Oh Sugar line is shaped more like that of a proper lipstick. However, shave off this one and I'm not sure I would notice it other than that very slight hint of a chemical smell.
They come in an array of colors. So far I have Caramel and Candy Bon Bon, but look at all of these colors. I can see having them all or at least many of the 10 that they so far have.
Also in the picture above the tips appear to be shaved off just like the Fresh, Sugar balms. You cannot tell me that they aren't trying to hit a dupe head on.
Now I do like these better than Maybelline's Baby Lips and other tinted balms of the like. I dare say that Cover Girl has a hit on their hands.
