Orgasmic: Nars Orgasm Line

So Nars certainly had a hit on its hands when it released it's world famous, Orgasm blush.  Everyone swears by it and it remains their best seller and has even spawned other products in an ever expanding line of products to create that perfect orgasmic flush.

So which of these products are good?  Actually all of them, but I do have some that I would recommend more than others.  Here they are in my personal opinion from least good to the best and the reasons why.  There are 9 products.  Here they are from least favorite to favorite.

#9.  Nars Nail Polish $20 at Sephora.com

Don't get Ms. Faux wrong, I do love this product, however in terms of nail polishes, this would not be my first choice.  Still it is a beautiful peachy pink color that Orgasm is known for.  It is only available in Orgasm vs. Super Orgasm which also is available in many of their other products.

#8.  Nars Illuminator in Super Orgasm $30 at Sephora.com

So this is a phrase that you are going to hear a lot from Ms. Faux when comparing Nars Orgasm and Super Orgasm.  Both are peachy pink in color but I do prefer the shimmer that is in the Orgasm line to the gold glitter in the super orgasm range.

The glitter is just a bit much for Ms. Faux.  It definitely gives the look that you have a product on your face as the glitter is more prominent.  This product is great to use alone or with foundation to create radiant looking skin.

#7.  Nars Illuminator in Orgasm $30 at Sephora.com

This product is same but is more natural in look since it just has the shimmer and not chunks of glitter.

Once again it can be worn alone or with foundation to create a more natural radiance and like the entire Nars line Ms Faux prefers Orgasm to Super Orgasm which to most seems crazy.  The illuminators are just a product that she doesn't use a lot of.

#6.  Nars Blush in Super Orgasm $30 at Sephora.com

Again this is more because I prefer Orgasm over the Super Orgasm color, but the formulation of the blush is just as good as Orgasm.  It is buildable, suitable for multiple skin tones and long lasting.  The only issue again for Ms. Faux is the gold glitter which she is not a fan of.

#5.  Nars Blush in Orgasm $30 at Sephora.com

This is the one that started it all.  Ms. Faux does adore it though yes it is coming in at #5.  So there are better products?  Yes.  This one though creates a perfect healthy flush that again is buildable and suitable for a number of skin tones.

Again I prefer this color to the super orgasm because the shimmer is more appealing.

#4  Nars Orgasm/Laguna Duo $42 at Sephora.com

So what kicks this up a notch?  The laguna bronzer that comes with it.  Almost as popular as Orgasm is Laguna as a bronzer.  Laguna is THE perfect color for a bronzer.  Not too orangey.  Not to dark.  Seriously look into it.  It is perfect and again is good for various skin tones.

So in all other categories Ms. Faux is always going to pick Orgasm over Super Orgasm each and every time.  Except for this category.  Orgasm is a gorgeous color, but I do prefer Super Orgasm more on the lip.

Ms. Faux is quite pale so I find this lip gloss tends to wash her out just a little too much.  It perhaps would look a little better on darker skin tones, but is still a wonderful lip gloss when paired correctly with blush and stronger eye make up.

#2 Nars Super Orgasm Lip Gloss $26 at Sephora.com

I adore the pinker color of this lip gloss and the glitter that bothered me in the other products I find perfect for your lips.  It makes them glisten and more kissable and the color is a bit deeper and beautiful.

The formulation of both are the same and stays for a long time without being to sticky.

#1.  Nars The Multiple in Orgasm $39 at Sephora.com

Why does this get the number one slot?  Because it is a multi-use tool and we do know how Ms. Faux likes a multi-use tool.  The Multiple in Orgasm gives you a tool for your cheeks, eyes and lips.  I find it works best on your cheeks and lips, but again you can use this gorgeous flush of a color to warm up your entire face.

So there you go.  Nars Orgasm's entire line.  Know that they could change on a day to basis depending on what Ms. Faux is feeling.  1-3 are pretty interchangeable and used all the time by me.

So what do you think of NARS's Orgasm Line?

What is your favorite NARS Product?

Summer Fail: Two Products I Wish I Found 3 Months Ago

So Ms. Faux is so very sad.  She just discovered two products that I'm deeply in love with for summer, just as it begins to trail off into the sunset.  The first is...

What is it?  According to Walgreens.com...

For Dry Skin
  • Helps Intensely Lock in Moisture
  • Helps Soothe Dry Skin for 24 Hours
  • Oil Free Moisture for Dry Skin
Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream helps to provides long-lasting hydration in a lightweight, oil-free formula.  The fast-absorbing gel-cream instantly penetrates skin and helps to lock-in moisture for 24 hours.  Antioxidant fruit waters help defend skin from external aggressors while vitamin E soothes and conditions.  Instantly:  Skin looks and feels more supple and smooth.  In 1 Hour:  Skin's moisture barrier is strengthened to help prevent dryness.  With regular use of this moisturizer:  Continuously moisturized skin is strengthened and looks healthier
Made in USA.

What does Ms. Faux think?

Not a winter moisturizer I don't think, especially when you have dry skin.  It is perfect though for those warmer, sweaty months.  It does what it says and helps to prevent dryness.  It definitely moisturized my skin very well without feeling sticky which you would expect a gel to do.  Well at least I think that about gel.  I did love it because it didn't feel heavy or like it would cause a build up of oil like creams.  Also... MADE IN THE USA!!!  USA!  USA!

O.k. I'm done.  I also like Clarins... a lot... and that's French so... you know.  :)

Next...  Oh my God.  Ms. Faux needs a moment.

What is it?  According to ULTA.com...

Details-
Keep the sun and environment at bay with this SPF 20 broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen, a tinted, light rose scented, titanium dioxide based formula (for those who are zinc sensitive) made with 98% natural ingredients. Organic acai oil - high in omegas-3/6/9, vitamins B1/2/3, plus antioxidant vitamins C and E - delivers a powerful defense against aging. Organic Sunflower Seed Extract promotes elasticity while organic Linseed Oil, containing Alpha-Linolenic Acids, reduces redness and irritation. The phyto-protector Plankton Extract rejuvenates, as organic Cucumber Extract calms skin.

Hypoallergenic, paraben free, ultra sheer, anti-aging, water resistant (40 minutes), no nano-sized particles.
What does Ms. Faux think?

It is a tinted CC SPF ya'll.  What does that mean, while it really isn't a BB cream and a tinted moisturizer it is a CC cream which for those not in the know means a color corrector.  It is perfect for those quick runs out the door on a day off.  It helps to disguise color issues like redness and sallowness so perfect for perfecting your face on those no make up days, but still adding the protection of an SPF.

This cream was gorgeous.  A bit matte and for dryer skin would probably not work as well in the winter, but for those sweaty summer months it would be perfect.

Coola Mineral Face CC Cream in Rose Essence.  Swatched (left)  Blended (Right)

Like the idea, but wish they had a tinted moisturizer?  Well you are in luck.  They do.  Try the Mineral Face SPF 30 Matte Tint $36 at Ulta.com.

Ms. Faux has not tried this product but can't imagine it is much different of a formulation, but probably just more coverage.  I will check it out and get back to you.  This would be perfection for an everyday tinted moisturizers if it works as well.

So there you go.  If it warm where you are, give them a try.  I'm kind of in love.

So have you tried any of these products?  What did you think?

What are your favorite Summer products.

Review: Nip + Fab Destress Blend: Calm & Indulge

So some people ask me, "Ms. Faux... do you ever not like something?"  Well hunties yes, but I rather not dwell on the negative.  Still there are products that I think are crap and I realize I need to impart that knowledge if only to keep you from making the same mistake.  However I will continue to try not to be negative and say that these simply do not work for me and I will explain why.  Who knows, you may love these products and that doesn't make my opinion or yours right or wrong.

So here we go...  Nip+Fab Destress Blend Gift Set $20.89 at Amazon.com.

It is a body wash, scrub and lotion that claims the following:

  • Gently cleanse and unwind with naturally derived cleansers blended with soothing sandalwood, orange blossom, cedar and relaxing frankincense, to wash away impurities and freshen skin
  • Moisturise and relax with this skin softening body lotion. A calming scent of sandalwood, orange blossom, cedar and frankincense helps to de-stress the body and mind whilst glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids help to refine and improve skin texture
  • Contains walnut shell powder, a natural exfoliant that gently buffs away dead skin cells to refine and smooth the skin. The polyethylene microscrub beads with their spherical shape allow the particles to gently roll across the skin, providing gentle scrubbing action.

  • So what is this product that has Ms. Faux in Haterville?

Let's start with the main reason.  It claims to be sandalwood, orange blossom, cedar and frankincense which are all in Ms. Faux scent wheelhouse.  I found this to smell like a cheap body wash.  All of those scents, if done well, should meld together to create something beautiful, but it smelled plastic and basic.

The body wash was just a plain and simple wash as was the lotion.  No bells and whistles and the body scrub was basically the bath gel with just a few flecks of scrub thrown in.  In other words, not really a scrub.

So for this products Ms. Faux would never buy again and actually threw it out.  Not worth ruining my bath.  As for the other scents in the Nip+Fab arsenal, I don't know and probably never will based on this let down.

So have you tried Nip+Fab Bath Products?

What did you think and what are your favorites?

Ms. Faux wants to know.  Leave it in the comments.

    Sample Saturday

Perhaps the newest spot on FauxPrah?  Who knows.  Much like Fab 5 Fridays my next plan is to introduce Sample Saturday.  What is it?  Just some of my favorite samples that I have jumped into within the week.  So lets get going.

I received some of these from Sephora and I'm sure some came in my IPSY or Birchbox subscriptions.  Below are some of my hits... and misses.

#1.  Dermaclear Micro Water by Dr. Jart+ $32 for 8.4 Ounces at Sephora.com

What is it?  According to Sephora.com

    What it is:
A pure and natural all-in-one cleansing water that removes makeup and impurities while toning and brightening skin.

What it is formulated to do:
Dermaclear Micro Water is made with 85 percent active hydrogen mineral water instead of refined water and is formulated with 90 percent natural ingredients. This unique formula allows it to remove all impurities, makeup, and even mascara without irritation while it provides nutrients and superior moisturizing. Suitable for hypersensitive skins, the Derma Toning Complex leaves a fresh, clean feeling while toning and brightening.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

It is much like many of the micellar waters that are out there.  I've tried ones by Simple, Garnier and of course Ms. Faux's favorite, Bioderma and find that this one is really comparable.  This does claim to be a mineral water rather than a micellar water like the previously mentioned.  Not really sure of the importance of that other than typically minerals are better for you internally or externally than not at all.  In terms of how it performs, go with my favorite Bioderma which is comparable in price point or Simple or Garnier which are much less expensive.

#2. Fugi Green Tea Body Butter $21 for 6.7 oz. at theBodyShop-USA.com

What is it?  According to The Body Shop...

    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Smooth on replenishing hydration, while detoxing body and soul, with the crisp and refreshing scent of Fuji Green Tea™ Body Butter. Discover more about the Green Tea Ceremony.
    What does Ms. Faux think?

I have adored The Body Shop's line of body butters for year.  The Brazil Nut Butter and Olive Butter are both of my favorites, but I do have to say I love this fresh new favorite.  Do you remember the delicious smell of Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea perfume?  This smells exactly like it.  Also... like this butter?  There is an entire Fugi Green Tea Line of products on the Body Shop Website including exfoliating soaps, body scrub, bath tea, lotion, body wash & cologne.

#3.  BB Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner $25 for Shampoo & $27 for Conditioner at Sephora.com

What is it?  According to Sephora...

    What it is:
A lightweight cleanser for anyone craving fullness.

    What it does:
This shampoo builds body in the shower and gives fine or limp hair a lift while moisturizing and sealing split ends. It's ideal for fine, thinning, limp, or flyaway hair.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

I don't know why I waited to do this in a samples story because this shampoo and conditioner deserves its very own props with fine or limp haired mavens.  I don't know what is in this product.  Perhaps unicorns or fairy dust.  Whatever it is it makes my hair so beautifully gorgeous and shiny.

As I have mentioned before Ms. Faux has a lot of very fine hair.  This product just feels like it strips away all the crap and seals each hair to absolute perfection.  It is always so much more manageable and I generally get lots of compliments after having used this product.

    Seriously... unicorns and fairy dust.

What is it?  According to Sephora.com...

    What it is:
An antiaging treatment that works deep beneath the skin's surface to support natural cellular turnover and improve firmness.

What it is formulated to do:
This powerful firming formula is comprised of a rich, nourishing texture that works overnight to tighten and reshape facial contours. Skin will appear younger, smoother, and more defined upon waking. This lotion helps prevent the appearance of dark spots and the inclusion of lotus extract brightens the complexion for a healthy face that glows in the morning light.

    What it is formulated WITHOUT:
    - Parabens
    - Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This lotion is dermatologist-tested and non-comedogenic.It is ideal for women in their 40s.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

I sooooo wanted to dislike this because it is so expensive, but seriously... unicorns and fairy dust.  As soon as I put this on my face it was instantly more moisturized without feeling sticky.  You know that fresh from the shower feeling?  It was sooooooo delightful.  It was also scented with the classic floral scent which may be overpowering for some but I found it to be absolutely decadent as I went to bed.

    Here's a tip...

What is it?  According to Sephora.com

    What it is:
An effectively gentle way to deeply cleanse, this refreshing cleansing oil melts impurities and makeup without leaving an oily residue.

What it is formulated to do:
This effective formula gently melts impurities and makeup, including waterproof, without leaving an oily residue. It is formulated with antioxidants and botanicals to soothe and protect skin. Hydrangea leaf helps to purify skin and minimize pores, geranium helps invigorate skin while supporting natural circulation, and botanical amino acids leave skin smooth and free of impurities.

    What does Ms. Faux think?

Well she can't wait to finish up her MAC cleansing oil and Urban Decay Make Up melt.  Why?  The smell.  This smells so heavenly.  Seriously the other two are just as great, but if you find a smell you like, why not go with it.  It removed the craziest of eye-makeup.  I had on waterproof mascara and super saturated pigments.  GONE!  No need to rub and it melted everything away.

So there you go.  Sample Saturdays.

Have a sample Ms. Faux needs to try?

Have you tried any of the above?

Ms. Faux wants to know.  Leave it in the comments.

    Fab Five Friday 9.24.2015

Here it is again ya'll.  All the goodies that keeps Ms. Faux from looking a damn mess.  Of course it is a lovely mix of drug store and high end products with a twofer from Smashbox.  So lets dig on into...

    1.  Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water $32 at Sephora.com

    What is it?

Well according to them it is a miracle.  What they said...

A makeup primer spray that hydrates and revitalizes skin.   Get the benefits of priming, hydration, and sheer radiance with this all-in-one Photo Finish Primer Water. Free of silicone, alcohol, and oil, it’s packed with revitalizing electrolytes that work to reawaken skin and restore moisture. This enriched water instantly absorbs into skin for lasting hydration, leaving skin looking refreshed and ultrasoft while it locks in makeup.

Back in 2000, Smashbox founder and photographer Davis Factor developed our iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer to help makeup look better and last longer on shoots. Fast forward 15 years and a new icon is born: Photo Finish Primer Water. It’s everything you love about the original primer in the lightest, purest, and most refreshing form imaginable. From the silky-smooth texture of the original, to the super-fine mist of this new water, this primer is perfect for all skin types.

“I always used to mist models’ skin with plain water as the first step in any application, but now I don’t know how I lived without this primer. It’s a triple threat. I use it as a super sheer primer before makeup, as a setting spray to help keep makeup in place, and as a misting spray throughout the day to refresh skin. It’s like a spa in a bottle!”—Lori Taylor Davis, Global Pro Lead Artist

    What does Ms. Faux think?

Though I'm still on the fence with it being a finishing spray I do love it as a primer.  It does give make-up something to cling to and helps to moisturize the face.  I used it all week long as both a primer and a finishing spray and I think it did beautifully.

It is almost citrusy in scent so it is a delightful experience to mist all over the face.  I do however prefer Caudalie Beauty Elixir for a fresh wake me up spritz throughout the day.

    What it is:
A sheer-to-medium BB water with a liquid-silk texture that delivers multiple benefits in just one drop.

What it is formulated to do:
    - Oil-free formulation with built-in primer water technology that creates a liquid silk-consistency to glide easily onto your face and moves with the skin
    - Features SPF 30 sun protection
    - Comes in eight shades

This multitasking BB water with SPF 30 is an ultra-hydrating and oil-free formula that creates a sheer, radiant finish that lasts all day. It delivers a demi-matte complexion that's never flat, creating a natural-looking canvas, and it minimizes the look of fine lines, pores, and blemishes. This unique BB water allows you to build coverage and does not cause any drying, cracking, or caking during wear.

What else you need to know:
“It all starts with skin in the studio. A sheer finish on the face reflects natural light better and highlights contours like cheekbones.”—Davis Factor, Founder and Photographer

“Remember, it’s all about perfecting—not masking your skin. You only need to apply foundation on places that need coverage.”—Lori Taylor Davis, Global Pro Lead Artist

    What does Ms. Faux think?

Well I do think I have found my new favorite day to day foundation.  Ms. Faux does not have troubled skin and has sort of combination skin.  This provides a perfect day to day to coverage that is not too dewy, not too matte (the latter Ms. Faux will not stand for - she do not like a matte).  It makes her skin look like her skin... only better and with SPF built in.  I could not be happier with this product and see it sliding into next week as my foundation of choice.

    What it is:
A duo of BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector® luminizers in travel-friendly sizes.

    What it does:
Enhance your features with the radiance of Shimmering Skin Perfector® Opal Glow On The Go. The Shimmering Skin Perfector and Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed feature BECCA’s bestselling Opal shade. Perfect for creating a range of makeup looks, these travel-sizes of BECCA’s top-selling luminizer let you customize highlighting, touch ups, and a natural-looking glow wherever you are.

    This set contains:
    - 0.085 oz Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Opal (deluxe size)
    - 0.17 oz Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Spotlight Wand

Becca Opal Shimmering Skin Perfector Swatched (left) Blended (right)
    What does Ms. Faux think?

This is the perfect golden highlighter for your cheekbones, brow bones, between the brows, on the chin and your cupids bow.  I presented you with this particular kid which is $20 at Sephora.com because the larger bottle which you can also use with a primer for a glow from within look or pair with your favorite body moisturizer for a body shimmer sells for $41 at Sephora.com.  This price point seemed a little more palatable and you also get a powder highlighter as well.  This amount is perfect for what Ms. Faux uses it for so I went with it.

It creates a wonderful golden highlight to brighten up your face and create a more youthful, awake and dewy look.

What is it?  Well according to Milani...

"Now this is a blush that deserves to be seen! Gorgeous in the compact, even prettier on cheeks, this petal soft, natural-finish powder shapes, contours and highlights. Streaks? Never. Easy to use? Always. In ultra-flattering shades that you just can’t live without."

"Glide a brush through the color and lightly tap off excess powder. Lightly apply to cheeks, forehead, chin and/or nose and blend well for a soft glow."

    Milani Awakening Rose Swatch
    What does Ms. Faux think?

First of all the packaging in terms of the product is superb.  Look at the rose detail in the product.  It is reminiscent of higher end products in terms of the sculpture of the product, but then you use it and it provides a perfect flush to your skin.  So beautifully delicate and I dare say would look great on most skin tones.

The outer packaging is standard drug store, but the product is where it is at.  It is gorgeous, flattering and build able.  A perfect staple powder blush to have in your collection.

Now you may be like, "yo FauxPrah... why you not link a store to this beauty but rather the Milani website?"  Well hunties, that is because I bought mine at Walgreens and you still may be able to get it there.  I have found that Walgreens does not list all of their products online but may still carry them in store.  Still if not you may be able to find it at Target or online.  It is limited edition, however Milani has a gorgeous Rose Powder Blush collection that they retain in their arsenal.

Row 1 (left) Row 2 (right)

What is it?  Well according to Wet and Wild...
    • Stunning collections of 8 silky, long-lasting, ultra-pigmented colors
    • Enriched with macadamia oil to provide continuous moisture and improve the appearance of skin
    • A jet-milled base and silicone technology deliver hours of crease-resistant wear
    • Embossed with easy-to-follow “how to” directions
    • Each complementary shade can be mixed-and-matched for a variety of day-to-night looks
Wet and Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette in Comfort Zone Swatches

    What does Ms. Faux think?

Hunties Ms. Faux do love a good palette and the majority of the ones she owns cost her $30 and up as they are from Too Faced, Tarte, Urban Decay, Kat Von D, Lorac, etc..., etc...  This palette however just goes to show that you don't have to be expensive to pack a gorgeous punch.

Now I just found out from my friend Ms. Cara that this palette has been around for a while.  Why have I never seen it.  Perhaps it is just too good and always sold out.  I could understand why for under $5.

The entire palette is extremely beautiful and useable and Wet and Wild, despite the price point has always had excellent formulation in their palettes.  Some particular favorites in this palette are

Row 1, Shadow 2 Which is a gorgeous rosy/mauve pink
Row 2, Shadow 2 and 3 Which are both greens that are beautifully flattering and can create a gorgeous look.
Row 2, Shadow 4 Is the most awesome red/blue shade depending on how it is reflected.  Would create a gorgeous eye with lots of depth.

I can't get enough of this palette.

And I can't just stop there.  I do need to give a Honorable Mention to the brush that I got in either a Birchbox or Ipsy subscription because it has been my go to blender to use with this new favorite Wet and Wild Palette.  It is...

What is it?  Well according to LuxieBeauty...

"The Luxie 205 tapered blending brush is the eyeshadow brush that is both cruelty-free and vegan. Handcrafted with synthetic bristles, the brush is extremely soft and gentle enough for all skin types. An antibacterial coating keeps the brushes clean and fresh. With a ravishing rose gold ferrule and pearly pink handle, the tapered tip makes blending eye shadow a breeze."

    What does Ms. Faux think?

Hunties I will put this up against any of my more expensive brushes.  As a matter of fact I have those brushes and kept reaching for this ALL.  WEEK.  LONG.

It is devine.  It is super soft and picks up the right amount of pigment.  It is now Ms. Faux's new eyeshadow brush.

So there you go.  All the products that kept Ms. Faux from looking a fright.

    What did you think?

    Have you tried these products?

Do you think there are products that Ms. Faux needs to look into?

Ms. Faux wants to know.  Leave it in the comments.
