Global Love: New Zealand

We got some Kiwis in the house!

Welcome New Zealand.  For some reason I thought you were already on board, but that must be because I'm constantly around my friend Steven who is as New Zealand as they come.  Steven is hilarious, chill and not a very good friend because he took all of his American friends to see their rugby team get slaughtered by the New Zealand All Blacks.

It's cool.  Secretly after they performed the haka at lovely Soldier Field here in Chicago I think we were all secretly rooting for them anyway.

So yes New Zealand I feel like you have been here all along, but I want to formally welcome you to Ms. Faux's list of international readers joining the US, UK, Indonesia, Germany,Ukraine, India, France, Brazil, Taiwan, Bermuda, Ireland, Israel, Russia, Poland, Sweden,Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Austrailia, Kenya, China, Italy, Iran, Greece, Mexico, Belgium, Spain, Malta, Brunei, Phillipines, Azerbaijan, Austria and now NEW ZEALAND!!!

FauxPrano's Italian Adventure: Meds & Toiletries that Made the Cut

This is the last terrible Soprano's reference Ms. Faux will make, but I had to share this super duper dopey picture that I made.  Seriously though Ms. Faux is so excited to go.  I know that this is not what Italy is about, it is so rich in history.  Ms. Faux do know as she studied much of your art, architecture, theatre history, etc... and I have been so wanting to go there for many years despite five other countries that came before you.

So two nights ago Ms. Faux started the hefty task of packing her bag.  Passport?  Check.  International Driving Permit?  Check.  Toiletries?  Check.  That is right, the most difficult part of packing Ms. Faux thinks is packing your toiletries so I always tackle it first.

So what makes Toiletries so difficult?  Ms. Faux likes to be prepared for anything but doesn't want a bag that weighs a ton.  I also have two areas for which I pack my toiletries.  One for my carry-on and one in my suitcase.

TRAVEL MEDS

First of all Ms. Faux has an amazing doctor that will call her in a Z-Pak for anything she picks up on the plane, but otherwise for meds I recommend a few advil and some Claritin-D.  The D is important as it is a decongestant and I have found the thing that usually happens in Europe is that I will catch a cold on the plane.  Ms. Faux also has a bit of flight anxiety (due to claustrophobia) so I take a couple of Xanex again from my wonderful M.D. and although I don't sleep he tries and gives me Ambien.  Note, you do have to have a prescription for these items, but even if you don't sleep, it lets you get to Europe a little more rested.  Otherwise in your bag I recommend a few band-aids and a travel pack of Neosporin, maybe even some sunscreen.
TRAVEL TOILETRIES

For Travel toiletries I keep it pretty simple.  Q-tips, body butter, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, small razor, face wash and moisturizer, hand sanitizer and moisturizer face wipes, hairbrush, hairspray, toothbrush, and toothpaste.  Now Ms. Faux... don't they have soap and hair products in Europe.  Yes, but I like what I like and want to know what my suitcase weighs.  By the end of the trip you can just throw away what you don't use.

Although I like what I like, there are a few items that I insist upon for all of my trips.  Just little luxuries to make things better.

L'Oreal Elnett Travel Size Hairspray - $5 on amazon.com.  This is a go to for Ms. Faux.  It is her favorite go to hairspray and they make it in a travel size.  No brainer.

Gilette Venus Snap Travel Razor - $9.50 on amazon.com   This Ms. Faux just discovered.  Not a very hairy person and most times I have just forgone a razor as I don't want to pack my larger version, however I read about this tiny little beauty and I am hooked.  Perfect for travel.

EO Hand Sanitizer Spray in Organic Lavender - $8 at amazon.com  Ms. Faux has also used Young Living's Thieves Hand Sanitizer Spray - $12 at YoungLiving.com as well.  I love this one because it is a gorgeous and calming Lavender scent, but the reason I prefer sprays to gels is because you can clean off other items other than your hands.

Doctor's Brush Picks - $13 at amazon.com Now this very well could be because Ms. Faux is currently rocking the braces, but I think I would use these anyway.  Like a toothpick but better.  These plastic little dreams can help get things out of your teeth with their delightful little brush end and are compact and disposable.  Perfect travel companion.

GlamGlow ThirstyMud - $48 at amazon.com  This so far is the best deal for GlamGlow mud that I can find anywhere.  It usually retails for $60+  Amazon is doing you a favor.  Is it mud?  No.  It is a moisturizing treatment.  What will Ms. Faux use it for?  I plan to put it on my face when I get on the plane.  The recycled plane air plays havoc with Ms. Faux's skin.  A thin layer of this and I expect to be pulling into Rome with moisture kissed skin.  Wash it off, add your favorite moisturizer and you walk off the plane.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir - Travel Size - $15 at Amazon.com  Forget Evian, forget rosewater, this is Ms. Faux's jam.  What makes this better than most beauty sprays?  The cooling feeling and the herby scent.

Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Brightening Cleansing Cloths - $22 at amazon.com.  This is the perfect face wipe to clean off make up, your moisturizing mask, or just the junk that collects on your skin in a day.  While these are a little pricey, they are a luxury that Ms. Faux enjoys on her vacations.  They do add moisture to your skin and makes everything look just a little more refreshed.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream - $12 Travel Size - Amazon.com.    This is Ms. Faux's favorite hand cream.  I carry it in my purse so of course it is in my travel bag.  Again plane air and travel is hard on hydration levels in your skin.  This wrongs so many rights.

BONUS!!!

So this last one, but I just discovered it and it will be perfect for going over.  For me anyway that is always the hardest transition.  Your eyes feel heavy, puffy and in need of anything to make them feel better.  That is where Boscia's Super Cool Depuffing Eye Balm - $35 at amazon.com comes into play.  This stuff feels so good and can possibly help put off that sleep that you can't wait to do once finding your hotel when you touch down.

So there are my favorite toiletries.  Tune in later when I list what cosmetics made the cut.

So what travel product can't you live without?

Have you tried any of these?

Ms. Faux wants to know and can't wait to get to Italy to do so.

Also if ya'll love it please tell all of your friends and follow her on the following sites.  If you don't... tell your enemies and just sit back and laugh at how they were sent to my ramblings.  And remember... if you don't look good, then Ms. Faux be lookin' like a damn fool.

Fab Five Friday: 6.26.2015... A Day Late

Sorry, sorry, sorry... Ms. Faux has been saying that a lot as of late but good lord life is crazy lately.  Still... I can't not put up my most popular blog post which is FAB FIVE FRIDAY!!!

So here they are hunties... The top 5 products that have kept Ms. Faux from being taken to the hospital.

That's right.  Ms. Faux's hair is finally long enough for a ponytail again and these are her hair elastics of choice.  Why?  Because they don't pull at your hair and if you have super fine hair like Ms. Faux, that is easy to do and it causes it to break.  They are also brown in color and just the perfect hair tie.

Again... Ms. Faux has been growing out her hair and while all of it can go back, throughout the day it begins to find its way out of the ponytail because it be fine as hell.  These clips help hold everything into place and better yet, blend in with my hair.  I love it.  Plus they are so cheap so if you lose them... who cares?

This is my last hair product I promise, but why Elnett?  Because it is the bomb.  It is a cult favorite.  Hair stylists used to bring this back from Europe before it was readily available in the states.  Great hold that can brush out if you need it to without leaving behind flakes.  While there are other great hairsprays, this is Ms. Faux's go to.  Holds everything in perfect place without being sticky.

Why this cheek gel?  Well this week was a week where it was hard for Ms. Faux to get sleep nor did she want to wear any make up.  I have found that a good moisturizer, a great cheek tint and mascara can leave you looking not dead.  I particularly love this product because look at the color.  Remind you of anything?

That's right blood.  Blood that doesn't appear to be running through my dead veins.  I fake it with a perfectly faked flush.  This product works beautifully and I don't look sickly.

This was the finisher all week long.  Why?  Calabrian bergamot.  White butterfly jasmine.  Warm sandalwood.  Those three scents are what heaven may smell like in my mind and they are all found in Oribe Cote d' Azur perfume as well are the custom scent of all Oribe (pronounced Or Bay) hair products.  Ms. Faux first discovered them when her hairdresser used them on her and boy are they expensive or I would use them on the daily.  At any rate now I have the perfume and this lets me leave the house in a brilliant mood because it is just my happy place.

So there it is.  Was a rough week of running late a lot, but these are the products that made it ok.

Have you tried any of these products?

What are your fave products to get you quickly out the door and feeling good when you really feel dead?

Cosmetic Cagematch: Nivea Creme vs. Creme de la Mer

COSMETIC CAGEMATCH

In this corner weighing in at 6.8 oz. and just over $7 at Walgreens, NIVEA CREME.

And in this corner weighing in at 3.4 oz. and $450, CREME DE LA MER.

Ladies and Gentleman... Let's get ready to rumble.

Round 1:  I can't afford $450 face cream.  Let's get real.

The Decision:

By Knockout is...

Nivea Creme

While I am sure that Creme de la Mer is a fine product, they are going to have to give me some free samples to test that theory before I'm willing to throw down $450 for anything except for a major appliance.  Besides Nivea Creme is delightful moisture for stressed skin on both your face and body.  Too heavy?  Try Nivea Soft Creme.  Also look online.  Many people think Nivea is a genius product and have called it a dupe for Creme de la Mer time and time again.

Still look on the internet.  Some have actually taken this challenge and sing the praises of Nivea Skin Creme.

What do you think?

Sure Ms. Faux copped out of this, but would you spend this much on moisturizer?

La Vanilia... Ms. Faux is in Love

So sorry hunties.  I know I'm saying that a lot lately, but my life is in shambles and I'm in the midst of stressful packing before leaving the country for over two weeks and then coming back to move two days after I get back.

I feel so bad though so I'm gonna write a bunch of blogs tonight, including catching up with Fab Five Friday for yesterday so that I have things to post over the next few days.

So it has been a very exciting couple of days here in the U.S.A. and it is to celebrate Ms. Faux's favorite sentiment... LOVE!  We did it!  Marriage is legal for all.  So very proud of those 5 Supreme Court Justices who did the right thing by arguing that love is love and marriage is a natural progression to express that love.

So what does Lavanila have to do with this monumental decision.  Not much, but when I put it on this morning I felt all warm and cuddly like I did yesterday.

Lavanilia: The Healthy Body Butter $19 for 6.7 oz. at Lavanilia.com

So what I had was a sample of The Healthy Body Butter by Lavanilia in pure vanilla.  To be quite honest, I'm stuck in a booth today making people laugh for 5 solid comedy shows.  My general thoughts on this was I didn't care what I smelled like so went into my sample bin.  I could not be happier I did.  My mood changed instantly as I was enveloped in vanilla goodness.

But Ms. Faux you don't like Vanilla as a primary scent... Oh hunties I do when it is this complex.  It is a blend of Madagascar vanilla, creamy tonka bean and here is what makes it special, sheer freesia.  It is so sexy and I do agree it with their website which calls it a grown up version of vanilla, more vanilla bean than vanilla cookie.

But did it moisturize?  Yes hunties.  It did.  And it wasn't sticky.  I don't like a sticky butter in the summer regardless of being from the south.  The primary love of this body butter though I have to say is the scent to which you know I'm going to continue to invest in.  Their prices are pretty reasonable as well for something of this quality of scent.  In other words... I have paid more for this quality.

What else makes Lavanilia special.  It is their story.  From their website:

We promise to deliver a new generation of healthy and luxurious beauty products, rich in natural and organic ingredients, free from harsh chemicals and clinically proven to be effective, safe and nourishing.

For more on their commitment to luxury in a friendly form go to HERE TO LAVANILIA.COM.

So while I have only tried their body butter I will be experimenting with more products.  They have fragrance sprays, rollerballs & oils as well as body butters, wash, lip balms, sunscreen, and deodorants ranging in scents including the Pure Vanilla scent that I fell in love and variations on it.  Those variations pair the pure vanilla scent with Lemon, Lavender, Coconut, Grapefruit, Blackberry & Passion Fruit.  They even have a Vanilla Summer which pairs with Mango, Pineapple and Coconut Milk.  They all seem just delicious.

There is no animal testing.  It is vegan friendly.  This product is hitting out of the park.

So more than a lot of products I throw my full support behind this brand.  Definitely check it out.

Have you tried Lavanila Products?

What's your favorite?

DIY:Make Your Favorite Lip Gloss a Lip Plumper

So hunties Ms. Faux's week is starting off kinda crazy again, but I'm dedicated to get even little blog posts in here.  I swear I will be soon off to Italy, packed for my move and moved in so that I have a little more time on my hands.

For today I'm gonna give a little Faux tip.  LIP PLUMPERS!!!

Now you know we all want that look like Ms. Angelina, but Ms. Faux has the kind of lip that basically looks like you drew them on a stick person.

Not a lot of volume so you know she do love a lip plumper.   Ooooooooh child but they can get expensive and they don't always come with my favorite lip glosses so here is my favorite thing to do.

Peppermint Oil $28 at youngliving.com
I use a drop of essential oil, either in peppermint or cinnamon.

Cinnamon Bark Oil $31 at youngliving.com
Now generally I use either a dab of a carrier oil like grapeseed oil or coconut oil to mix it together.

I blend with my essential oil of choice and voila!  Lip Plumper.

Just another little tip.  If you have a small Carmex bottle or the like, you can use coconut oil and a few more drops of your favorite Peppermint or Cinnamon oil and make one you can put in your purse.  Even better - add a few drops to your favorite lipgloss.  The sky is the limit.  You can plump everything.

So there you go.  Ms. Faux's famous tips.  So far it is the only tip, so we will see how famous I get.

Love, Peace and Big Lips,
Faux

Have you tried this?

What tips do you have?

Ms. Faux wants to know.  Leave it in the comments.

Fab Five Friday: 6.19.2015 Perricone MD: No Make Up Make Up

This week's Fab Five Friday is going to look like a giant ad for one cosmetics company, but I have to say I did use these products all week long.  So here is the story of Ms. Faux's love affair with Perricone MD Cosmeceuticals.

So you all know Ms. Faux has gone on and on about her favorite sort of look, the no make up, make up look.  Always taunting her as been one company who names their products just that.  It is Perricone MD.  What I love about this product is that it boasts and then backs it up.

I was first drawn to this brand by their foundation since my least favorite thing about make up is foundation that you can see.

1.  Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation $55 at perriconemd.com

What is it?
An antiaging treatment foundation with SPF 30 designed to deliver instantly glowing, dewy complexion.   This original favorite is available in two shades: No. 1 & No. 2 which can be used individually or blended to create the perfect shade. No Foundation Foundation instantly diffuses imperfections, corrects skin undertones, and minimizes the appearance of fine line and pores with alpha lipoic acid. The result is the radiance and health of youthful-looking skin.

What does Ms. Faux Think?

This was my first Perricone MD purchase several years ago and at first I wasn't sold and after trying it again recently I don't know what the hell was wrong with Ms. Faux.  It is delightful.  It takes your skin and just makes it dewy and perfect.  Now if you need full coverage this will not cover everything, but is perfect for that no make up flawless finish.

What is it?
A revolutionary cheek serum with SPF 30 designed to shape softly rounded cheekbones and impart a healthy perfusion of color.   No Blush Blush restores the color and radiance of youthful cheeks while addressing compromised architecture of cheekbones with DMAE. A universally flattering youthful rosy glow in a self-adjusting shade, it simulates the flush of youth.

What does Ms. Faux think?
This is the most perfect in terms of color and texture of all liquified blushes.  It gives a nice soft, healthy flush of color, making your skin glow to perfection.  It beats Benetint, Sonia Kashuk, basically any non-powder blush.

What is it?
An antiaging lip treatment serum designed to restore the color, suppleness, and shine of youthful-looking lips while deeply nourishing and protecting from sun damage with SPF 15.  This revolutionary antiaging lip serum is designed to mimic the natural shine and color of the area inside the lips. The elegant, non-tacky texture of No Lipgloss Lipgloss revives lip color and luster while promoting suppleness and nourishment—instantly smoothing and conditioning lips. Featuring a sheer buildable tint to enhance, contour, and impart a profusion of color and gloss, the universally flattering rosy hue adapts to individual skin chemistry for the perfect finish. Weightless suspension technology ensures optimal delivery of active ingredients in the formula while a non-chemical mineral-based SPF 15 with zinc oxide helps protect lips from harmful UVA/UVB rays.

What does Ms. Faux think?
Well hunties I don't know about the protection factor, but I know just like the blush this gives a very youthful lip color.  It is your lips but better.  So beautifully luscious and a gorgeously wet look.

What is it?
An antiaging lip treatment with SPF 15 designed to enhance lip contours and mimic the natural rosy color of youthful lips.  No Lipstick Lipstick restores the natural rosy color of youthful lips while deeply nourishing and conditioning. It smooths vertical lip lines with neuropeptides and its solid-to-serum texture allows for sheer, buildable coverage.

What does Ms. Faux think?
Much like the lipgloss the color is absolute perfection, but this give a completely natural look as it is less glossy.  While Ms. Faux does prefer the gloss this lipstick is great and gives a super great natural look.

What is it?

This luxurious oil-free moisturizer cream creates an invisible shield against environmental aggressors and guards against UVA and UVB damage. Extremely lightweight in texture, it glides on skin smoothly and evenly, leaving it soft, hydrated and radiant. Formulated with powerful anti-aging benefits and mineral sunscreens, it derives its natural color from antioxidant-rich, Astaxanthin. No tackiness or heaviness, it is the ultimate moisturizer with SPF 30.

What does Ms. Faux think?

So I bought this when those lovely crack dealers at Sephora sold me on it.  And if this is what it means to do crack, then Ms. Faux is an addict.  This moisturizer is just perfection.  It kind of acts like a beautiful primer on your skin and sets their foundation just perfectly.  The perfect beginning to a perfect no make up make up look.

So there it is.  All the things that have given Ms. Faux that So Fresh and So Clean look all week long.

Do you use any of these Perricone MD products?

Have you tried any of Perricone MD's other products?

Ms. Faux wants to know.  Leave it in the comments.
