Ms. Faux Keeps it Warm and Spicy on a Cool Chicago Day

So the temps in Chicago fell today.  It actually was a great napping weather day.  Rainy, 50 degrees and a bit of a nip in the air.  Ms. Faux loves to crack a window, take a luxurious bath and cuddle up on the couch with her favorite baby kitten on these days.

Second only to her kitten however is a lovely spicey and sugary sweet bath experience.  Now Ms. Faux generally doesn't care for sugar and spice, but on a cold day it is just perfect.  Today she tried out a Christmas Present she got this last year.  It was Vitabath's Spice is Nice Body Wash & Lotion Set currently $9.95 at www.myvitabath.com

It's a perfect blend of fresh pumpkin and allspice mixed with delicious cream cheese icing and finished off with notes of rum and maple syrup.  It is warm and enveloping.  Ms. Faux do love and it was the perfect napping accompaniment.  Her skin was just delicious.  Yummy enough to eat.

This ordinarily is a holiday scent, but they have some on sale at myvitabath.com so go quickly.  It's even discounted.

And unfortunately Ms. Faux had to pull herself from the couch to go make the people laugh at the comedy club she works at, but before she did, she kept the spice going with Orgins Ginger Essence Perfume $57 at orgins.com.

It is a sensuous skin scent.  A fragrant fire of spicy ginger balanced by the refreshing zeal of bergamot, lemon and lime to create a sensous synergy between warm and coo, energy and calm, tempest and tranquility.  It is irresistible and perfect for that cool but cuddled up and warm on a couch day.

Global Love: Mexico

Welcome to the party Mexico and Ms. Faux knows if there is any place that knows how to party it is most definitely Mexico.  Some of the most fun Ms. Faux has ever had is in Cabo San Lucas and Cozumel and some of my favorite art in my home is my gorgeous Day of the Dead art from some of your local artisans.  And Ms. Faux still has the picture below on hold to be tattooed on her back.

Mexico also has Ms. Faux's favorite drink TEQUILA!!!  And you know each and every time I've been to your fair country I have sampled quite a bit.  Probably my favorite is  Riazul 100% Blue Agave Silver Tequila.

And lets not even start with the food.  Ms. Faux has to go on a fast before entering your country because she knows she is coming back with at least 15 pounds.  Ya'll sure know how to work a spice.

Global Love: Belgium

Belgium you do flatter.  You are new among Ms. Faux's international readers joining the US, UK, Indonesia, Germany, Ukraine, India, France, Brazil, Taiwan, Bermuda, Ireland, Israel, Russia, Poland, Sweden, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Austrailia, Kenya, China, Italy, Iran, Greece, Mexico and now BELGIUM!!!

True story... Belgium is one of the 5 European countries that Ms. Faux has visited as I touched down in Antwerp and then spent some lovely time in Bruges.

I even climbed that tower in Bruges completely and totally drunk after too much time in the De Halve Maan Brewery and imbibing with a copious amount Brugse Zot.

It was also the place where I had possibly one of my favorite beers I have had in Europe, the very delicous KWAK.

Oh God and then there was Duvel...  Duvel... I forgot about the Duvel.  Sooooooo delicious.

Seriously though I did do more than drink but I have to say your people do have the beer flavors on lock.  Bruges however was one of the most picturesque places that I have ever seen in my life and some day I will be back to discover even more of your gorgeous country.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble

Round 1:  Both shades of Nars Laguna and Orgasm are cult classics.  The colors are in opinion more true, blend able and build able.  The Laguna shade is more natural and Orgasm is... well very fitting of a color for the name.  Elf St. Lucia has a beautiful blusher shade, however the bronzer shade is a bit too dark for my skin, however may be perfect with someone with darker skin.  Round 1 goes to Nars.

Round 2:  The price.  $3 vs. $42  No brainer.  Elf wins this round definitely.

Round 3:  The texture.  Nars is definitely more buttery, blend able and overall just a better texture of product.  Elf is a bit more dry, but does work and could be great if you sprayed a make up setting spray over it.  This round goes to Nars. 

Round 4:  Packaging.  It is exactly the same.  I mean look.  This round is a draw.

In a short bout I declare this match a...

DRAW!!!

Really I do prefer the NARS products more for color and texture but Elf is acceptable and at a $39 savings completely workable.

Fab Five Friday: 5.29.2015

FAB 5 FRIDAY!!!

Once again hunties it is time for... Fab Five Friday.  Sorry so tardy.  Ms. Faux done fell down a flight yesterday and is in a Vicodin haze.  Actually writing this blog right now in said haze so please forgive, but I could not NOT do Fab Five Friday.  Tune in next week where this list is likely to be ice, rest, arnica gel, vicodin and the Real Housewives of New York marathon with a bonus of my couch.

Here are the top 5 products that Ms. Faux used last week to keep herself from scaring the children.

#1  Sephora Collection Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation $28 at Sephora.com

What is it?

What does Ms. Faux think?  I agree with everything they claim and will go one further and celebrate this fine product for its ultra light feel on the skin.  Ms. Faux done do believe this to be better than Dior's Airflash Spray Foundation both in product and in price.  See her recent Cosmetic Cagematch Review.  This is Ms. Faux's new favorite summer foundation.

#2  Sephora Collection Pore Perfecting Primer Mist $22 at Sephora.com

What is it?

A pore primer in an aerosol spray that features a weightless, non-sticky, mattifying formula for up to eight hours of perfecting wear.  SEPHORA COLLECTION’S first-ever aerosol pore primer allows for the most refined and even application for a finish that primes, sets, controls shine, and reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines for up to eight hours. The universal formula pairs well with Perfection Mist Foundation or any foundation formula. 

What do Ms. Faux think?  Well first thing  Ms. Faux hates primer.  Hates it with a passion.  I generally find them heavy on the skin, sometimes sticky and just overall kind of gross.  Well this primer is none of those things.  It is absolute perfection in a can.  Make up is smoother and it doesn't feel like you have painted it on.  This is a hit and may be my new favorite primer.  I mean, it got me to use primer several days in a row and that never happens.

#3  The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion $14.50 at thebodyshop-usa.com.

What is it?

A light, non-oily moisturizing lotion for blemished skin. For use after your Tea Tree cleansing regime.

• Provides lightweight hydration
• Easily absorbed
• With shine control for a matte finish
• Antibacterial action
• Clinically proven to give clearer-looking skin

What do Ms. Faux think?  Well I did have a mild breakout where my glasses sit on my nose.  Problem that develops in warmer months due to sweat and rubbing from the glasses.  This lovely product is perfect because it provides very light moisture while the tea tree works at your blemish.  I used a couple days in a row and the blemish diminished significantly and my skin doesn't feel crazy dry like most blemish products cause it.  I love it.  Can't get enough of it.

#4  Nars Laguna Bronzer $39 at Sephora.com

What is it?

Nars Bronzing Powder is a true brown-based bronzer with a gold shimmer fusion that's excellent for creating or enhancing the look of healthy, glowing, tanned skin.

What does Ms. Faux think?  Well hunties I have never been a big fan of bronzers as they are generally to dark on Ms. Faux's pale skin.  This product however is the exception.  The product is build able and seems perfect for most skin tones.  For darker skin tones they have Casino which I feel would do the same.  In the tradition of NARS it is yet again another cult favorite along with Orgasm blushes.  Make-up artists swear by it.  It is often imitated, but never duplicated.  It is without a doubt, the best bronzer in Ms. Faux's personal opinion.  Tune in later today when Ms. Faux introduces a fairly close dupe, but still cannot dethrone the master.

#5  Make Up Forever Aqua Brow $22 at Sephora.com

What is it?

What does Ms. Faux think?  Well hunties you know what Ms. Faux thinks about a good brow.  It is what perfects your face.  I actually discovered this a couple years ago and just reintroduced myself to it.  I like to switch around with my brow products.  Well I fell back in love.  It is so lightweight and blendable.  It makes the perfect brow.  I remember when I first discovered this product.  I immediately texted my good friend Ms. Sarah because she do love a good brow as well.  We both fell in love.

Faux Fave: Mist You Madly

So Ms. Faux has a new fave.  It is Soap & Glory's (wait for it) Mist You Madly Body Spray.

While Ms. Faux is a big fan of their original pink scent, this is what it says... a deeper more sensual scent that is perfect for night.  Ms. Faux prefers a body spray in the summer to a perfume so this has become my new nighttime go to.

How significant is that.  Very!!!  I find very few body sprays can stand up to Ms. Faux's very picky standards as they are  based mainly in alcohol.

The main scents that make this so sexy is the patchouli and sandalwood, but they are made so very fresh by the citrus scents that it is perfect for the summer.  And at less than $11 this scent is a must.

Global Love: My Love Affair With the UK

One of my other larger readerships is in the European country that Ms. Faux would most like to live.  Paris may be my fantasy city, but I could easily call the UK home.

Why is that?  As much as I love the US, and I do, I have always latched on to British culture, particularly your amazing history and unrivaled punk scene.

There is something about your pubs, your food, your grey weather, your pomp, your circumstance, your style, your wit, your wisdom, your silliness, your slang, your obscenities (they just seem much more delicious), your accents, etc..., etc...  I love it all.

Ms. Faux is part Scottish... a very little part, but I do fully embrace this part of my heritage.

I do truly enjoy you Britain and from the bottom of my heart do thank you for reading my silly little blog.

PS.  Last night I discovered a lovely new bath and body product called Dirty Works.

Medicinal Perfume: Tokyo Milk - FAUX FAVE!!!

Is perfume medicinal?  Yes.  Essential oils are one of the greatest medicinal products on the market.  Don't believe me?  Diffuse some Eucalyptus oil whilst having a cold and you will completely understand.  It is a life changer.

That is not what I mean though.  Ms. Faux has had a long time love affair with perfume.  And as you go much like food and wine, you develop a better palette and a better understanding.  Soon you start having the know how to layer and understanding why most, "designer," fragrances are absolute crap.  Then you discover a lovely perfume line that you could and wished you had created yourself.  Tokyo Milk.

I discovered this brand whilst perusing one of my favorite boutiques.  It caught my attention because the packaging is divine.

What is the difference?  Dolla Bills ya'll.  While Tokyo Milk is more affordable Jo Malone is a bit pricier and something my sweet soul sista who is swimming in dollas can afford more of.

So while Tokyo Milk may be more affordable I do realize it could take a bit to get enough bottles to be able to start layering.  That is until they came up with these little beauties.
