Global Love: Proud To Be A Native American

Proud To Be A Native American

So cue the cheesy Lee Greenwood amazingness, Ms. FauxPrah is starting a new blog spot called Global Love.  It is meant to show products from looks inspired from these different countries.

As you know Ms. FauxPrah do recognize each and every time get gets a new follower from a new country.  I feel we are all one big family and as families go, sometimes there are ones of us that we are embarrassed about and those that we are proud.  Well Ms. FauxPrah is proud of all of her readers and wants to recognize them for the beauty that they are.

I however feel it wouldn't be dutiful of Ms. FauxPrah if she didn't start with the land that she loves.  The good ol' U.S.A.

So what does the U.S.A. remind Ms. FauxPrah of?  Red, White and Blue clearly.  It also reminds her of the brave men and women in the armed forces as Ms. FauxPrah come from a big ol' Army family.  More importantly it reminds Ms. FauxPrah of the kindness of strangers.  Also known as, Ms. FauxPrah's people, the Native Americans, more specifically for Ms. FauxPrah, the Cherokee people.

Ms. FauxPrah as she has gotten older has come to appreciate her Native American culture more and more.  It isn't that I wasn't proud, I just didn't know much about something that was such a big part of me.  But as I started looking at pictures I just kept seeing my face.

No that's not me.  Not even close.  That is the beautiful depiction of Nancy Ward, a.k.a. Nanyehi or "The One Who Goes About."  She was revered by councils and allowed to make decisions.  She believed in the peaceful coexistence of the European Americans and even introduced them to faming and dairy production.  One of my favorite stories of Ms. Nanyehi is that she stood behind her husband Kingfisher who was killed and battle and then picked up his weapon and continued to fight and eventually led her people to victory.  She also negotiated with the European Americans and was shocked at their lack of female negotiators.  She, to me, is an inspiration and a study for strong women.

So when I think of beautiful Native American women, I think of the strong of heart, beautiful simplicity and such arresting and delicate features.  It is when I started looking at these pictures that I finally understood my face.  Hooded brow, small but dark eyes, narrow nose, high cheekbones and delicate lips surrounded by dark and gorgeous glossy hair.  So when I think simplicity I think of my everyday look.

If you were to see Ms. FauxPrah on the day to day you would see that she rocks little to no foundation (tinted moisturizer preferred), a well manicured brow, straight hair and lots of barely there nude make up that plays up her natural features rather than masks them.  Here are some of my favorite products to do that.

I love this foundation for two reasons.  It gives barely there coverage and has SPF built right in.  Like Nanyehi, my tribe was clearly fans of the European Americans because their skin tone took up residency in the color of my skin.  I'm as pale as a ghost.  The finish of this moisturizer is luminous.

I use either ebony or dark brown.  The formula of this brow pomade is perfection.  It is smudge-free, waterproof and slides on in all-in-one eyebrow definition.  This stuff is perfection in the hot summer months.

It is the perfect neutral nude blush.  Again this makes sense that I can wear a neutral nude as there is a clash underneath my skin.  This is the perfect barely there blush that is blend able and lightweight.

This is the perfect taupey pinkish brown.  Taupe is the miracle color because it goes so well with all colors.  Why?  It kind of is the presence of all colors.  The undertones to what kind of taupe it is what makes it different, but taupe goes with most red lipsticks, corals, pinks, browns... you name it.  It is the delicious mix of most colors.  This gorgeous shadow lays perfectly on the lid for a lovely and perfect shadow.

Even My King Simba Likes Cashmere Coat

So I use the lighter of the two for this look.  It is the Darkside color.  I love this formula because it smudges out beautifully.  These pencils were created to pair with another Holy Grail of make up Urban Decay's Naked Eye Palettes.  I won't say too much about them here because they will get their own blog, but these are the original hunties.  Often attempts to replicate fail.  Spend your money here.  They gets it.

I mean it is no wonder this look is looking to Urban Decay for product.  They as I mentioned are the queens of the nude/natural look.  If you are first into make up and are looking for this look, this is the company that does it best.

This gloss is a highly pigmented extra luxurious gloss.  Urban Decay has also not failed with the range of colors on this product either.

So even if you aren't into the nude look there are plenty of colors in this brand new Summer 2015 line.

To finish this off I have found the perfect mascara is a blackish brown hue and Ms. FauxPrah's favorite do be Dior's Diorshow Waterproof Mascara in Catwalk Brown $25 at Sephora.

It is perfection and I do believe child that this look is befitting that of a Native American Beauty.  The fact is all Native American women I find remarkably beautiful inside and out.  And again for the first time in my life really do see myself within that culture and am so very proud to be.

I am proud to be a Native American
