IPSY Review: May 2015 Glam Bag

So Ms. Faux just signed up to both Ipsy and Birchbox as a way to try out new products to see what she likes.  It is $10 a month.  I believe you can upgrade.  But first to come to Ms. Faux was the IPSY Box.

Ipsy @ Ipsy.com
Ipsy was recommended by Ms. Cara her local crack dealer.  She sells the best rocks.  Rocks being delicious cosmetic products and here is what Ms. Faux thought so far of this experiment.

1.  Breakups to Makeups Make Up Bag $24 at Sephora

I thought this was an adorable and quirky bag.  It is the concept of makeup artist Angelique Velez.  It spreads the message that makeup is art.  Now I know that not everyone agrees, but that is how Ms. Faux looks at it.  Somedays is it harder than others to become inspired?  Yes.  Some days is it minimalist?  Yes.  Somedays is it more expressive?  Yes.  The face is a canvas and make up allows you to create your truth or sometimes when you just want to just fake it or play a character.

So I loved this little beauty.

2.  Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches $21 for 7 at kloraneusa.com

Klorane Smoothing and Relaxing Patches with soothing Cornflower is a lovely relaxing eyepatch that  claims to soothe and soften skin around the eye, refreshing, moisturizing and brightening the area.  It is supposed to reduce puffiness and smooth away lines.

Cornflower has been known for its soothing, softening and anti-inflammatory qualities.  It is grown exclusively in France and is harvested during it's full blossom.

What do Ms. Faux think?  It definitely helped with her puffy allergied eyes.  It reduced the swelling and moisturized.  Did it brighten the eye?  Well anything that took down Ms. Faux's allergies was certainly going to help reduce the redness in the eye so yes it did that.  It was also certainly refreshing.  Now the big test... Would Ms. Faux go buy these after trying them.  Probably not.  Do I think they are worth 7 for $21.  Absolutely.  It just isn't my cup of tea, however it might be a nice little pamper tool.

3.  Jessie's Girl Cosmetics Pure Pigment Eye Dust $4.99 at Jessiesgirlcosmetics.com

This is a pure pigment eye dust that can be used alone as a loose eye shadow or over primer for an all-day, crease-free look.

What did Ms. Faux think?  The color is a lovely sun-kissed almost terra cotta brown, not at all the matte true brown neutral color that she expected something like brown sugar to be.

Actual Brown Sugar
Ms. Faux does not like a dramatic look so she never will be using with a primer but it is a lovely wash of color for a sun-kissed look.  Still not the favorite neutral brown color that is a favorite.  Is it worth $4.99, sure.  Would I ever buy it.  Probably not.  Is there something I could recommend instead of it.  YES.  L'OREAL's Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush.

It is a pressed shadow which I prefer over the loose shadow as I have found the color to be better and pressed powders are more controllable and better for her allergy eyes.

The brush is a vegan/ 100% Animal Cruelty Free brush with high quality synthetic hair bristles that are very soft.  It is coated in an antibacterial solution for minimal brush cleaning allowing it to remain fresh and clean for longer periods of time.   It creates a perfectly blended eye shadow on your crease.

What does Ms. Faux think?  Again it is good.  I have bought cheaper in sets on Groupon that are equally as good and probably cheaper.  It is vegan and cruelty free.  That makes it worth $12 or more in my personal opinion.  Love the animals.

This was a surprise.  It was a full sized product (not a sample).  I was so excited.  It has won awards.  It claims to give any hair type a thicker, fuller, more youthful appearance.

It was a dud.  Now it is hard for Ms. Faux to write anything off and maybe this is better when she is rocking her pixie cut and wants more curl, but this left her hair feeling heavy and dirty.  Not a fave so I will move on.

It claims to be a revolutionary daily cleanser that combines the power of mud and the performance of foam for a new daily cleansing experience.  It claims that it melts away make-up, dirt and impurities and to be formulated with rare Brazilian yellow clay to help remineralize the skin.  It also has green coconut water to immediately boost skin for intense hydration, olive milk rich in olive lipids and proteins to skin, and plumeria flower blossom extract rich in omega 3, 6, and 9 to restore the skin barrier function. Indian gooseberry revitalizes and restores natural skin clarity while TEAOXI® olive leaf powder delivers natural linoleic acid to maintain moisture. Designed to create a hydrated, silky, and dewy fresh complexion, it helps maintain results of your current weekly treatments for healthy-looking, beautiful skin.

What does Ms. Faux think?  I don't know what any of that crap above means but she is in love with the Thirsty line of Glam Glow.  I don't really see the need for it daily, but it is a nice luxurious pick me up for the skin and I thoroughly love it.  Other than the bag it was my favorite item in my IPSY bag.

So would I recommend IPSY?  Absolutely so far.  Although I wouldn't use everything I got there was a thing that I loved, something I wanted to try and a couple of things that I never would have known about.  Also I likely will not buy the Oscar Blandi product for my hair right now though it may be better for a different type of cut.

Did you enjoy this post?

Have you tried any of these products?
