Fab Five Friday: Taking Chances

So Ms. Faux took herself a giant leap this week that may or may not pan out.  Who knows.  Is not looking one way or the other, but she figures... life is short NOW IS THE TIME!  Sort of was a theme this week and kind of played into her Fab Five Friday Picks.

First Ms. Faux has been the mad search for the perfect foundation.  To this date the winning choice has always been Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua.  It is a very water based product that goes on smoothly and is just a, "your skin but better, look."  And it smells heavenly.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua $47 at www.Chanel.com

But Ms. Faux be with with her best good friend Ms. Cin and her daughter Cara and spent way too much money in Sephora.  Like any good crack dealer Ms. Cara was selling rocks.  These rocks was just cosmetics, and hunties... she do know her stuff.

#1 Make Up Forever Face & Body Liquid Make Up

Anyway... the first thing however was not sold by Ms. Cara but rather something Ms. Faux had read about.  Make Up Forever Face & Body Liquid Make Up.

Make Up For Ever

$40 at www.makeupforever.com

Ooooooooh child, Ms. Faux had a speak to Jesus moment.  Or is it come to Jesus?  Whatever... the good lord was there.

Disclaimer: Ms. Faux ain't too religious so any  religious speak is done for effect.
No intent to offend, but seriously how funny is dino jesus.
Now while I love that Chanel is more sheer, this lovely foundation works just fine and is just a slight step up in coverage.  I usually find that it is harder to find sheer foundations than high coverage.  I get it and again Ms. Faux counts her blessings in the skin department but we girls with good skin need options to.  And don't think we don't have our flaws.  Honeychild the doctor done put me on steroids that have me gaining weight in places I didn't think was possible.

Anyway that was #1.  I promise the others won't be so involved.  Still I took a chance and was wonderfully surprised.

Next the crack dealer took over and convinced me to get the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.

#2 Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette $58 at www.hourglasscosmetics.com

Now hold on.  I know what you are going to say after you see the swatches.  "Ms. Faux, what the hell do those things do?"  Well hunties let me tell you.

As you will recall, Ms. Faux is a part time lighting designer and these little beauties are like having your own lighting crew.  Ms. Faux uses Dim Light as an overall powder to illuminate the skin, the incandescent light shade to add highlight and the radiant light to warm the cheeks.  It is perfection and makes your skin look like buttah!  So very subtle.

#3 Bath & Body Works 3 Wick Candles

Next Ms. Faux done turned back into her 20 year-old self and bought a bunch of candles.  Now Ms. Faux usually prefers to diffuse essential oil or to heat scented oils, however she is just digging the ambiance of a lovely candle lately and low and behold if Bath and Body Works wasn't having a 2 for $22 sale.

Bath & Body Works 3 Wick Candles
Now another disclaimer, Ms. Faux prefers a soy candle as they burn cleaner, but I could not pass this up.  The variety they have is unreal.  Pictured above is Ms. Faux's favorite Mahogany Teakwood, but she also got Japanese Cherry Blossom, Honeysuckle Bouquet, Stress Relief, Limoncello & Amazon Falls.

Further (and this isn't part of the Fab Five) Ms. Faux found the holders below that just makes these more beautiful.

Hobnail Candle Holder $34.50 at Bath & Body Works
And this lovely beauty the Hanging Pillar Jar Hurricane at Pier 1 Imports.

Hanging Pillar Jar Hurricane at Pier 1 Imports $30 - $100
The beauty of this is that you can put whatever you want into them to make them festive.

Ms. Faux collects "7" pool balls so I'm trying to get enough to snaz up the larger one and then will likely throw in some fairy lights for illumination.  When I do it I will take a picture and report back.

#4 Givenchy Le Rouge Lipstick

Next Ms. Faux done went to her crack dealer again and bought a lovely Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick in Brun Cachemire at Sephora.  Ms Cara made the claim that it was better than Ms. Faux's Yves Saint Laurent faves.  She'll forgive for she don't know the love that Ms. Faux has for those lipsticks.  But I will say this about Givenchy.  Their packaging is to die for.  It is like a leather bullet.  So rock and roll.

Reminds Ms. Faux of her dad Iggy.

Iggy Pop Circa. 1970
Not Faux's dad but a girl can dream.
At any rate just look at this color.  It is absolute perfection and has that retro brown tint ala the grunge 90s years.

#5 Chosungah 22's Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker

And lastly on Ms. Faux's Fab Five Friday is Chosungah 22's Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker.  Now what the hell is that you might ask Ms. Faux.

Chosungah 22's Dong Gong Minn Brow Maker
$22 at Sephora.com

Well hunties, it is a tinted brow gel.  Here is the exact description on Sephora.com's website

Developed by Chosungah to meticulously groom and tame your brows, this unique brow tinted gel lets you a achieve doe-eyed, dramatic eyes. This brow gel is formulated to match all hair colors without fading. Simply swipe brows with this gel to tame and lock hairs into place. With an ergonomically-designed, two-in-one applicator that includes a brush and a sponge tip, it’ll help you to shape up and define brows with ease and without the mess. Once you sweep it onto arches, this waterproof formula will set, lasting all day without smudging. Formulated with phyto keratin and henna, it nourishes and protects the brows against the elements.

Did Ms. Faux believe the hype.  No.  But she tried it and hunties it is likely going to be her packed brow make up on her upcoming Italian getaway to Southern Italy.  She took a chance and was rewarded as was almost all of her picks this week.

It is perfection and gives your brows a tame yet realistic look.  Ms. Faux is absolutely in love.

Bonus Round: Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara

Ms. Faux do want to add one more, but only because it was her go to mascara for the week and equally used as much as the above products.  It was Cover Girl's Flamed Out Mascara in Black/Brown.  Such an odd little applicator but a perfect natural lash.  I will say there are definitely better Cover Girl mascaras as this seems to be the place that they excel.  She could not, not mention though.

So that is it for Ms. Faux's Fab Five Friday.
