Whipped Coconut Butter Experiment - Check Back Tomorrow

WHIPPED COCONUT BODY BUTTER

BIT OF A DISCLAIMER:  Apologies everyone... Ms. FauxPrah had some horrible, horrible allergies yesterday and didn't get to this until late.  Posting today along with (a little later) a review of my good friend Dreamy Tim's new Second City show and a delightful dinner.  And of course products.  Who do you think FauxPrah are?

Hi hunties!  So Ms. FauxPrah's skin is looking a little tired lately.  Most likely to being a little tired lately, but also it is just a bit dehydrated.  Today she going to give it a much needed day off with all natural products.  One that stood out to her was this delicious recipe.

  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • a few drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance

  1. Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl.  DO NOT MELT THE COCONUT OIL.  IT WILL ONLY WHIP IF IT'S SOLID.
  2. Mix on high speed with a wire whisk for 6-7 minutes or until whipped into a light, airy consistency.
  3. Spoon the whipped coconut oil body butter into a glass jar and cover tightly.  Store at room temperature, or in the refrigerator if your house is so warm it melts the oil
Tip:  An electric hand mixer will work, but a KitchenAid type stand mixer will likely make lighter work.  You also won't have to remain with it.  A blender or food processor will not work as it will warm the oil too much and prevent it from whipping.

Note:  Your whipped coconut oil should stay relatively soft, even at colder temperatures.  If it's really cold, it will become a litle more solid, but not rock hard like it normally does.  Most times it froths into little coconut pearls that melt into the skin.

As you all know Ms. FauxPrah did do a coconut challenge not so far back.  Here are the blogs that began it all:

Some suggestions to scent your coconut butter:

Carrotseed Oil has a rejuvenating effect on the skin. It not only works to help smooth skin, but assists with cell regeneration. For this reason, it can help to fade scars and improve the tone of aging skin.
Frankincense Oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin, making it ideal for acne-prone skin. It is also a natural toner, decreasing the appearance of pores and evening skin-tone. It is cytophylactic, which means that it helps protect existing cells and encourage new cell growth. For this reason, it helps reduce wrinkles, tighten skin, and reduce the appearance of scars. It also helps soothe chapped, dry skin.
Geranium Oil helps regulate oil production and reduces acne breakouts. It also helps improve skin elasticity and tighten skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It also promotes blood circulation to the areas where it is applied, helping to heal bruises, broken capillaries, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, ringworm, and other skin conditions.
Lavender Oil smells amazing, helps you relax and your body adapt to stress, and has great benefits for the skin. It helps regenerate skin cells so is great for mature skin, sun spots, and scarring. Another great oil for all skin types and needs.
Lemon Oil is a wonderful natural astringent and antibacterial. As such, it is extremely beneficial to those with oily and acne-prone complexions. It also helps tone the skin and reduce the appearance of pores.
Myrrh Oil greatly benefits aging skin. It has strong anti-inflammatory properties that help improve skin tone, firmness, and skin elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Myrrh can also help heal sun damage, chapped skin, rashes, and eczema.
Neroli Oil is great for oily, sensitive, and mature skin. It helps to smooth fine lines and tone sagging skin. This rejuvenating oil contains a natural chemical called citral, which helps regenerate cells. For this reason, it is said to be very good at preventing and healing stretch marks, as well. Its antiseptic properties also balance oil production and shrink the appearance of pores without drying skin.
Patchouli Oil is particularly great for aging skin. It promotes new cell growth and smooths the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Because it also has antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial properties, it can also benefit skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne.
Tea Tree Oil is one of the more well-known essential oils for acne-prone skin. Its antibacterial properties help ward off acne-causing bacteria. It also helps to regulate oil production, which can decrease the severity and incidence of breakouts.
Ylang Ylang Oil is one of my favorite essential oils because of its rich, floral fragrance. It is helps to control oil production and minimize breakouts. It also helps regenerate skin cells, smoothing fine lines and improving skin elasticity. Another great essential oil for every skin type.

I recommend Young Living Essential Oils as they are the most pure that Ms. FauxPrah have ever encountered.  She used to be a distributor.  These oils can be purchased at YoungLiving.com.

In terms of, "do it all," oils geranium, lavender and patchouli are the best for all skin types and concerns however tomorrow Ms. FauxPrah feeling all citrusy and will probably do lemon and cut the tartness with some good ol' fashioned vanilla and put it in a big container.

For my face I will probably take a couple little pots and make some face cream.  Likely geranium for the day and lavender for night.

Now Ms. FauxPrah be doing this because her face feels a little tight and she don't like the feeling, but know she ain't worried about the wrinkles.  She earned each and every one of those lines.

Remember...
