Earth Day: Let's Go Back In Time

Well hell nah!  It was Earth Day yesterday and Ms. FauxPrah did nothing to celebrate it, so lets pretend it is yesterday and here is Ms. FauxPrah's earth day recommendation.

So here are a few hacks that get Ms. FauxPrah through the day, lookin' pretty and feelin' a little bit better about herself and that she hadn't wiped out acres of trees or an orangutan.

I will say Ms. FauxPrah do love herself a good glass bottle.  Even better if it is brown and even better if it is clear.  No reason for the color or lack of, just a personal preference based how she decorates.

So when I buy handsoaps, dishsoap or anything where I think that bottle can be re-used I do.  Most recently it has been also other containers and materials (plastic, metal, wood, etc...) that can be cleaned out and re-used.

Now how do this work Ms. FauxPrah?  Well hunties, most companies now put peel off labels on their bottles.  Peel it off and BAM!  You have gotchyoself a bottle.  Some still print directly onto the bottle and if it is a super cool look I might leave it, but most come off with some paint remover or even a bit of fingernail polish remover.  Here are just a few examples of bottles that Ms. FauxPrah do care for and are taking up residency in her home.

Clockwise from upper left:
Method Detergent & Softener
Anthropologie Mercury Glass Candle
LUSH Vanillary Gift Set
Murchison Home Dish Soap
So how do I use these?  Well Ms. FauxPrah's belief is that anything in your house that you can let sit out in sight makes life just that much prettier and easier to traverse.

Also I hate packaging/labels unless it looks vintage.  As you can tell everything here but the method detergent bottle do have that vintage, old pharmacy feel.

For the Method Detergent and Fabric Softener which you can easily find at Target I prefer the 25 load bottles.  Why?  They are more ergonomically friendly and Ms. FauxPrah be a bit of a klutz.  From what I can tell though is that Method only makes detergent in the 25 load bottles so I bought two.  Removed their overlay label, very easily I might add, and put on my own basic label.

You can also go fancy with a chalkboard label, like these that you can get under $7 at amazon.com for 40+ labels.  I just love the color of light passing through the bottle.  Stunning.

I finish using all of the detergent in one bottle and I continue to fill with the refillable packs that Method also offers in both detergent and fabric softener  WHAT?  Yes they do.  Method do have themselves a green thumb.  EARTH DAY!!!

Next is Anthropologie Mercury Glass Candles $28-$88 at Anthropologie.com.  Now these admittedly are a bit salty for Ms. FauxPrah, but the they are so danged beautiful and after you burn out the gorgeously scented Capri candle inside... BAM!  Use yourself a cheaper candle and just set it inside to see the beautiful mercury glass glow.  The original candle though is a delicious, soy, Capri Blue Candle.

Next was a surprise as I just bought the Vanillary Perfume Gift Set $49.95 @ LUSH.  It came in this lovely little wooden box.  I kept the box because it was adorable and surely I would find something to put in it.

And she did.  You know what it perfectly held?  Ms. FauxPrah's Neutrogena Make Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes approximately $6.50 and can be purchased at Walgreens, Target or even in bulk at CostCo and it look sooooo much prettier than their case.

I can leave it on my dressing table and just feel a little bit more fancy.

Lastly Ms. FauxPrah is going on her second Murchison Hume Heirloom Dishwashing Liquid at $25 at Murchison-Hume.com.  Yes again a little salty, but Ms. FauxPrah got carried away with a skillet one night and done did broker her last one.  That one lasted for 5 years until the klutz done took over my body ya'll.

Now I do care for and use the product inside and hunties... Ms. FauxPrah do love.  She gets the fig scent and it is as heavenly and seductive as dem fig leaves that Adam and Eve done put on their junk ya'll.  It is an all natural dishwashing liquid that may make you want to do dishes.  PREACH!

Now pro tip:  You can get this that I know of also at the Container Store and Amazon.com.  Amazon even carries the refill for $15.  A Triumph of the Senses!!!  You can also just refill for even cheaper with your favorite detergent.

And you know what Ms. FauxPrah just realized... each in their own little way all of these products are varying degrees of green.  Everybody wins!
