Pure torture. So what do she do? She go to Sephora and spend more than she spent at Ikea. Then... she went to Wal-Mart to feel like a proper suburbanite and bought some cheap make up. I spent way too much time and money, but it pulled me out of my meltdown and gave me sooooooo many blog post opportunities so get ready.
Since I spent so much time looking at make up tonight's will be simple. I'm also going to start a new blogspot called CAGEMATCH. Tonight's cage match is the most expensive item I bought tonight vs. the cheapest thing I bought tonight.
COSMETIC CAGEMATCH
LAURA MERCIER VS. NYC COSMETICS
In this corner, weighing in at .2 ounces and $28 at Sephora Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in ROSEWOOD
And in this corner, weighing in at 7 ml and less than $3 at Wal-Mart NYC New York Color Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain, 7ml in Get Noticed, Unforgettable Fuchsia, On Everyone's Lips, In the Spotlight & Perpetually Mauve. That's right I bought all of them and for less than $15.
Dear God, I just did the math. They actually were $2.77 each. That is $13.85 total, which you guessed it is less than 1/2 of what I paid for the Laura Mercier one. Yikes!
Here are my thoughts and some pictures to help out. First of all... dear God NYC has one that I didn't get or see that I will be on the hunt for tomorrow. Yikes! It looks like a pretty one as well.
The one that I don't have is #1, otherwise I have all the others and the name of their colors below. First of all even if these weren't all that great at $2.77 a pop, it wasn't like I broke the bank. Well guess what. They are fantastic. Not only do I love the liquid, gel like feel they also are packaged like a lip gloss instead of a marker. I hate marker lip stains because I feel the felt tends to age quickly and they don't work as well after a while. These are amazing and you dip out color each time.
So how did they wear? I don't know if they will go 16 hours, but I do know that I tested them and then took a bath where I washed my face with both cleansing oil and then a face wash and I still have a beautifully completely, "natural," fuchsia lip. :) Should I run out, I will completely purchase again. #6 is my fave, but I have a feeling should I find #1 it will be a close second.
Fauxprah still has the vapors that these lovely stains only cost $2.77. That is less than a cup of coffee. Holy Crap! Here is a direct link to the NYC Site. So far NYC has it in the early rounds.
#1 Faithful Coral
#2 Get Noticed
#3 In The Spotlight
#4 Perpetually Mauve
#5 Unforgettable Fuchia
#6 On Everyone's Lips
Next is Laura Mercier's Paint Wash Liquid Lipcolor in Rosewood at $28 at Sephora
Now the color is a gorgeous rosy mauve/brown with very full coverage. It really adheres to your lips with a high shine color, but is totally natural looking. The dry down seemed a little bit drying to me in the store, but after sampling about 20 lip products that was probably just my lips dying for moisture. The color is absolutely more realistic. It is absolutely more rich in feel and texture. It is 100% more expensive.
Tune in tomorrow for a new Fauxprah's favorite thing.
