I was recently asked, what if any cosmetics do I keep in my bag? Most times it is just chapstick and perhaps a colored lip product or gloss of some sort. But when I think to, I put my little case in my bag.
Now this is definitely not what Ms. Faux would keep in her bag if she had a full on make up bag, but rather the few bits and pieces that I think can pull your look together quickly, all the while being compact. Note that these items change all the time but as of now, here is a pretty quick look for Ms. Faux. Also... I've given some affordable options when possible to the more expensive stuff. Let me know if you like it and would like me to continue doing so.
First some concealer. In a pinch it can double for foundation, especially if you can find a lotion to be sort of a primer. If not a splash of water and a pat dry will help to make the concealer slide around. Still most only need a little concealer to cover up blemishes and dark spots. Look no further. My favorite go to... for now anyway is...
1. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer $29 @ sephora.com
It is lovely and has high coverage. I have however been able to use this under my eyes in a pinch by just using less product. I do love it so much and it just works. What can I say? It either does or it doesn't. This does. More affordable option: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.
2. Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Brow Gel $24 at Sephora.com
Well you all know that Ms. Faux do care for a sculpted brow and on the go this is perfect. One I love it because it has fibers in it that helps to boost the volume of your brows and fill in. Another thing I love about it is that it is super duper compact and fits perfectly in your purse. Amazing, compact product. More affordable option: Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Drama.
The next one changes from time to time but at the time I'm digging...
3. Kryolan Lip N'Cheek $14.95 at us.kryolan.com
So as you can see Ms. Faux loves things to be compact, but I know what you all are thinking, "isn't Kryolan a theatrical make up." Well kind of hunties, but it is also just a very good smudge proof make up. I'm not suggesting you go full face with their products, but Ms. Faux do love their blushers, lip products and eye shadows. Make up is make up. What makes it work is how you use it.
So anyway these little tubes are multi-use products. A perfect flush on the cheeks and tint to the lips. Again it is the size of a tube of Carmex so perfect for inside your purse. More affordable option:
4. Benefit Porefessional Agent Zero Shine $30 at Sephora.com
So this one I am not going to have a more affordable option for because I buy this product not only for the amazing product but because of it's amazing packaging. It has a built in brush (which I prefer to any other powder applicator) and is perfect for your purse. Also... it has a bit of tint to it so as your make up wears through the day this cleans things back up.
5. Mascara - Whatever sample or travel size I have been given.
Seriously... I save my sample and travel size mascaras for my purse. I may initially see if I like the product but it is going into my purse make up bag. Mainly because of the size of it. I never use them except for this purpose. My whole thing is compact when it comes to my bag.
6. Naked 2 Basics Palette $29 at UrbanDecay.com
For eyes I recommend something very neutral that you could do something more dramatic with the shades if need be. Naked 2 is perfect for that.
7. Sephora Look Color In The Eye Brush Capsule $22 at Sephora.com
Again this is mainly for packaging, but the product itself is also very good. The packaging however is teeny tiny... and you have every brush you need, including a brow.
I know you are thinking, but Ms. Faux, "we don't have brow powder." Hunties look to your Naked 2 Basics palette. Perfect brow options that allow you to carry less in your bag. Also the dark shade provides and amazing liner.
So there you go. What's in Ms. Faux's bag. Now you know.
