The Force Can Suck It: Cover Girl Limited Edition Star Wars Launch

The first thing that comes up when you click on Cover Girl's Star Wars launch of cosmetics is...

"Which Side Are You On?"

I'll tell you which side.  The one that doesn't make me look like a damn idiot.  I seriously do not get this pairing, but I did try some stuff and will give you my honest opinion regardless of the coupling of things that don't need to be coupled.  Get it together Cover Girl.  Just launch your fantastic Mascara and leave the movie making to George Lucas.

You've frozen George in carbonite Cover Girl... STOP IT!!!
Anyway... here we go.  Sorry.. this really bugs me.

First lets start with the packaging.  This is going to be universal for the entire line so I'm just going to put it here.  When I look at my cosmetics, I don't need to see the Star Wars Logo on it.  Actually I would prefer not to.  If you are a fan I'm sure you will appreciate, but otherwise meh.  Unnecessary.

Alright... moving on.  While I can appreciate a concept line, I found only two of these colors to be wearable, maybe three if you have the coloring to rock a dark lip.  Still of the three, let's say, "wearable colors," I would always reach for another product in the same hue as the forumulation on this is kind of hard and drier.  Not my fave.

This launched in September and all I can think of is possibly for Halloween.  In that case, BRILLIANT!  You've made a costume easier to build, otherwise not much use for the line.  And it goes downhill from here.

Again... pointless.  While I think in terms of nail color these are a lot more wearable, the whole packaging concept is pointless.  That being said, much better formulation in that I love Outlast Nail Polishes from Cover Girl.  These colors didn't float my board, but perhaps yours.  So maybe I am taking a turn for the better.  Nope!

3.  Star Wars Limited Edition Super Sizer Mascara $6.95 at Covergirl.com

O.k.... I'm just done.  This one is packaging alone which is precisely why this is infuriating me.  I mean...

It is a fantastic mascara.  I liked it the first time around.  I don't need star wars on it.  They have Dark Side (regular mascara) or Light Side (waterproof).  Marketing genius!!!

Child that is so dumb it deserves a NeNe eye roll.
O.k. not one to gripe and not offer a solution and again perhaps I would be o.k. with this launch if they continued their, "concept," lines.  Might I suggest some of the following would be gorgeous palettes that would be more wearable.

As a matter of fact I think I just found a new blog idea over the next few weeks.

Let me know what you think of this idea.

A new spot each week will be make up inspired by different classic movies.  The products that you can buy to create the look.

Would that be something of interest?  Also like in Legends of the Fall if there are two looks like Julia Ormond and Karina Lomgbard I will do both?

Let me know if this is a great idea or if it is something that has been done to death or how to make it better.  I would love to know.

For now though I will say the force is not with Cover Girl Cosmetics.  This Star Wars line is an absolute bust, even as a concept line.  More wearability please.  Because otherwise...

Have you tried Any of these products?  What did you think?

Any products or lines you would like Ms. Faux to Review?

Leave it all in the comments.

Also if ya'll love it please tell all of your friends and follow her on the following sites.  If you don't... tell your enemies and just sit back and laugh at how they were sent to my ramblings.  And remember... if you don't look good, then Ms. Faux be lookin' like a damn fool.
