Fab Five Friday 10.16.2015

I'm back hunties!!!  Windows you won't keep a good Faux down.  So here we go with all the products that kept Ms. Faux from lookin' a hot mess this week.

1.  NYX Avant Pop Nouveau Chic Palette.  $16.99 @ Ulta.com

What is it?  According to Ulta.com...

Express yourself with splashes of striking color from NYX Cosmetics Avant Pop! Nouveau Chic Shadow palette. This collection has been carefully curated with 10 eye shadows in various finishes. This palette lets you create a softer look or take it to the next level. Everything you need to create your own pop art masterpiece is at your fingertips!

What does Ms. Faux think?

First of all Ms. Faux's disclaimer...  NYX does not sponsor her in any way.  She just thinks they make exceptional, affordable make up and this palette is definitely no exception.  Also... these colors don't suit you, they make two other palette's in the Avant Pop Palette line.

These are a bit pricey even for NYX but the thing about Ulta is that they offen have Buy One get one 1/2 Off sales so you could in theory get two palettes for around $24 which is $12 a palette.

But why did Ms. Faux select this one?  First the colors are divine.  Ms. Faux's favorites are Top Row, Square 5 and Bottom Row, Square 4.  They just give so much depth and dimension to a hooded eye like Ms. Faux has.

I love pairing the gorgeous taupey blue shade in the Top Row, Square 5 with a nude lipstick or gloss.  It may just be Ms. Faux's favorite go to look and pairs great with dark hair.

2.  Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Blush $26 at Ulta.com

What is it?  According to Ulta.com...

You don't need crazy skills to fake the perfect flush; you just need the right product. Get all-day radiance and streak-free color with Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush by Urban Decay. The foolproof way to create that effortless, radiant look, this extremely blendable, finely milled formula goes on sheer and provides eight long hours of wearable color.

Wait until you feel it. Lightweight yet luxurious, Afterglow has a soft, creamy texture that always applies beautifully. The lineup? A range of scintillating shades...some with a matte finish, and others with a hint of shimmer. From pink to mauve to red-orange, there's something for everyone.

Urban Decay finely milled the right balance of coated powders and pigments to create Afterglow's perfect, super-soft texture. This method results in color that glides on effortlessly and blends beautifully (without the powdery buildup of cheaper formulas). UD also infused the formula with light-diffusing pigments to enhance and perfect the skin.

Not only does Afterglow look amazing on the skin, but you'll look good using it. The gorgeous, custom gunmetal compact features a see-through fishnet "UD" cutout on the lid (so you can easily see the right shade without opening the compact).

What does Ms. Faux think?

I don't know about their claim that the UD cutout allows you to easily see the product, however I do agree with every other statement they made.  I think the color range is gorgeous and Video specifically is just one of those perfect flush colors.

True to their word, the texture of the product lends itself to incredible blendability.  There is a reason this was one of the only two blushes I used this week.  So what was the other...  Well it was #3.

What is it?  According to theBalm.com...

Introducing a truly loyal long-lasting liquid lipstick—Meet Matt(e) Hughes. With eight dreamy shades to choose from, you can take your pick from this hopelessly devoted collection. This long-wearing formula has a comfortable matte finish with no commitment issues. These matte vanilla mint liquid lipsticks are stuck on you without feeling clingy!

"But Ms. Faux, you said a blush and not a lipstick.  What the hell are you talking about."

Yes I did mention it was a blush and not that is not it's intention, but Ms. Faux got a sample of this and thought it was a liquid cheek stain.  What she found, aside from actually being a lipstick, is that it provided a beautiful, natural and blendable matte flush.  It also comes in an array of colors.  Not sure how all will work as a blush, but the formulation of the matte lipstick I believe to be up there with Kat Von D's everlasting lip color and NYX's liquid suede.  Meet Matt(e) Hughes is also real ish to Ms. Von D's cult classic, Lolita.  I say, "ish," because it's a similarish pinky nude color.  Add all that and the fact that Ms. Faux found that it could be a multi-use tool and... perfection in a small tube.

What is it?  According to sephora.com...

What it is:
A multifunctional face product that gives skin a refreshed luminosity.

What it does:
This light-reflecting liquid glides on to refresh and enhance the complexion, creating a shimmering incandescence. Wear it alone, or pair it with makeup to transform your skin from ordinary to extraordinary.

What does Ms. Faux think?

Well as mentioned before in Ms. Faux's previous blog on Nars Orgasm line the liquid version of the illuminator is one of my favorites.  Why?  It is obviously more fluid and allows you to mix a little more than the solid versions.  This is even more so perfect for Copacabana.  Do I like the control of the stick?  Yes, but if I had to choose between the stick and or the liquid illuminator though, I think I would choose the liquid.  Why?  It allows you more usage.  Clearly it is a multi-use product and the perfect highlighter, but as a liquid, you can mix in easily with your foundation for an all over glow.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I had a couple of gift cards with amounts left on them so I decided to give these a whirl... and now they are my go to brushes.  So far my favorite is #4 above, the foundation brush.  It is so perfect for blending your foundation.  I also like #1 & #2 the powder brush and blush brushes respectively.  They are the perfect sizes for the product they were meant for.  I have also used #6 as an amazing crease brush and #8 & #9 on dry shadows to smoke out my lower lash line.

They are a gorgeous blue color and I have to say, having owned high end brushes to some of my favorite $3 Elf stippling brushes, these brushes are worth their money.  Also Make up application is just so much better and easier with the right tools.  Oh and again... that #4 foundation blending brush.  I looked at her other sets and didn't see this exact one so make sure to look for it.

So there you go once again, Ms. Faux's fab five friday?  So sorry it is a day late.  Get it together Mr. Bill Gates.
