Tarte: Palettes HITS & Misses

So Ms. Faux is going to admit there is one cosmetic company that is hitting it out of the park palette wise lately and that is...

Tarte Cosmetics
Now... they can't all be winners so I will get the stinker out of the way first.

- Collector’s case with dazzling sequins, an oversized mirror, and a zipper closure

What does Ms. Faux think?

Mascara...  Worth it.
Smaller Palette Within... Worth it.
Double-ended Brush...  Worth it.
Packaging... Worth it.

The large set of gorgeous colored eye shadows... Meh.

Anyone who has used Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara know it is perfection as is their blush, bronzer and highlighters that are featured in the smaller palette.  And again the packaging is gorgeous.  I mean... look at it.  Almost has a tribal feel.  Stunning.

I am just sad that the majority of the make up included which is the eye shadows are of sub par quality.  Not like the other two palettes I mention below.  They are almost chalky and have no pigment payoff.  If you would like to build the color and like lighter shadows, maybe this is for you, but this is not what I have come to expect with Tarte Cosmetics Eyeshadows.

Now that the dirty business is out of the way, now onto two of my most recent favorite Tarte palettes.  First may be one of my favorite palettes ever and one I use weekly.

That is the Tartlette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette $44 at Sephora.com

What is it?  According to Sephora.com...

What it is:
An all-matte palette with 12 exclusive eye shadows.

What it does:
By popular demand, tarte is introducing an all-matte shadow palette featuring 12 never-before-seen shades to inspire, celebrate, and empower real women. As beautifully diverse as the brand’s loyal fans, this sleek, statement palette features tarte’s signature Amazonian clay-infused, long-wear eye shadows in a mix of liner, lid, and crease shadow shades. The palette also includes a step-by-step guide for creating smoldering, versatile looks that take you from daytime to playtime.

This set contains:
- 12 x 0.053 oz Shadows in Free Spirit (cream), Force Of Nature (nude), Dreamer (warm brown), Multi-Tasker (chocolate), Caregiver (pale pink), Natural Beauty (mauve), Best Friend (mulberry), Bombshell (dark plum), Super Mom (ivory), Wanderer (light brown), Power Player (taupe), Fashionista (black).
- Step-by-step look guide

What does Ms. Faux think?

The colors are perfection.  The formulation is soft and buttery.  The pigment is intense and workable.  The matte finish is perfect for a subtle everyday eye and that is how I use these colors.  I absolutely love this palette because it is so neutral and beautiful.  It is worth every bit of its $44 price.  Dare I say that I even prefer it over my beloved Naked palettes?  I just did.

I have a rule about copying... if you are going to do so... do it better or don't attempt it.  There are many that have tried to duplicate the Naked palettes, but it is the Tartlette that succeeded.  Well done.  Get this palette now.

The last palette is the new Tarte Energy Noir Clay Palette $38 at Sephora.com

What is it?  According to sephora.com...

What it is:
A full-face eye and cheek palette for creating bright day looks and sultry evening looks.

What it does:
Bring an energetic look to eyes and cheeks with tarte’s clay-infused eye and cheek palette, featuring eight gorgeous eye shadows in neutral, plum, and smoky hues. Then amp up your makeup look with the versatile eye and cheek highlighter and go softly flushed with the warm, neutral blush—each infused with tarte’s iconic Amazonian clay and encased in a chic palette. Use the included step-by-step guide to learn how to create the “Everyday Energy” and “Nighttime Noir” looks.

This palette contains:
- 6 x 0.035 oz Amazonian clay eye shadow in Full Moon, Charged Up, Dark Drive, Stone Unturned, Up Too Slate, Misty Mauve
- 2 x 0.045 oz Amazonian clay eye shadow in Power Plum, Lunar Eclipse
- 0.045 oz Amazonian clay highlighter in Crystal Spark
- 1.91 oz Amazonian clay 12-Hour blush in Unearthed
- Step-by-step Guide

What does Ms. Faux think?

Much like the Tarlette palette these are gorgeous colors, buttery, buildable, workable, highly pigmented, matte colors.  I feel this palette picked up in purple and taupe colors where the Tartlette palette left off and has the added bonus of a highlighter and blush.  It again is a lovely every day palette that can be built into a very seductive and sexy dramatic eye.

Tarte also released with this launch the gorgeous Lipsurgence Lip Tint and Gloss $19 or $24 at Sephora.com.

According to Sephora.com it is "powered by skintuitive pH-adjusting technology, which instantly responds to your lips natural color to reveal your own unique shade of berry."

However it works it pairs well with the corresponding palette.

So there you go.  Two hits and one miss, however one of those hits is a MAJOR one dahling.  Like Andre Leon Talley Maaaayjor Dahling!

So have you tried any of these Tarte Palettes?  What did you think?

Have any other palettes Ms. Faux simply needs to try?

Leave it in the comments.
