FauxsHold Tips: Aromatherapy & Winter Humidity

So here we are hunties with another FauxPrah Fauxhold Tip and this is Ms. Faux's favorite way to beat the winter dry air and add a delightful aromatherapy scent to the air.

Now if any of you are like Ms. Faux, the first signs of winter air you have a bloody nose comparable to that of Steve Nash in an NBA playoff game.

There I put in a visual.  So not sexy.  The drying of my airways is so terrible so it is absolutely necessary that I run a humidifier at all time.  At home I have an Aircare 5 Gallon Evaporative Humidifier $149 from HomeDepot.com.

I love it because it holds 5 Gallons of water first and foremost.  I hate refilling after one gallon which most humidifiers are.  Also it has a changeable filter on the inside  Mostly I love it because it doesn't seem phased by the fact that I drop in 10-20 drops of my favorite essential oils.

Now disclaimer: I'm not saying this won't ruin your humidifier.  I'm saying I have done this for two years and this baby is still running strong.  In fact most humidifier warranties will warn against doing this and say it will invalidate your warranty.   I don't care.  I took the chance and I love the result.

Now though I have been known to diffuse Thieves, Sacred Mountain, Peppermint and Eucalytus Globulous, all by Young Living, most of the time I use

Why Geranium?  According to Young Living's Website...

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) has a wonderfully uplifting, calming, flowery scent. It is excellent for the skin, and its aromatic influence helps release negative memories. Used traditionally to support the circulatory and nervous systems, a great deal of its strength lies in its ability to revitalize body tissues.

It is just also a very lovely scent and there are less expensive versions of this.  Young Living's pricetag of over $50 for 15 ml is a little steep.  I was a distributor and know a distributor so I don't pay this amount, but it is therapeutic grade so you get what you pay for.  I do know that you can get cheaper versions, I however cannot comment on their therapeutic properties.  I have used them though and they smell delicious as well.

I also diffuse this at work in my desktop humidifier.  My office for years has had a number of humidifiers.  We break them and wear them out as they are competing with a giant heater that is used to heat an entire lobby level of a high rise building.  My favorite however is the one I brought from home.  It is the...

Perfect size for the desk and it even changes colors if you want... or it stays white.  It is up to you.  Colors can be stationary or rotate.  Also though it just simply claims to be a diffuser, I have found this as effective as most smaller humidifiers.  Better yet, it is made for use with essential oils and disperses them into the air perfectly.

So there you go... a little FauxsHold Tip from FauxPrah.  Let me know what you think.

Also if ya'll love it please tell all of your friends and follow her on the following sites.  If you don't... tell your enemies and just sit back and laugh at how they were sent to my ramblings.  And remember... if you don't look good, then Ms. Faux be lookin' like a damn fool.
