Fab Five Friday: 11.6.2015

So here they are.  The fabulous five products that Ms. Faux has used all week long.

What is it?

This honey-hued multi-use product is much more than just a luminizer - it is a highlighter, an eye shadow, and an all-over shimmer in one.
However, this creamy feeling highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light leaving skin looking softer and younger - while at the same time adding a subtle glow. Layer it on your lids for luxe-looking lashes, sweep it on your cheeks for a sexy sheen, or use it as an all-over finishing touch before you head out for the day or night. Talc, Oil, and Paraben-free, Mary-Lou Manizer is a lot more than she appears to be!

What does Ms. Faux think?

I don't know if I would use this product all over, however... if you are looking for a subtle highlight or even an eye shadow I suppose stop right here.  It is a lovely highlighter without being too highlighty.  Is that a word?  It is now.  I absolutely love it.  Also I have been doing a lot of running and yoga lately so it's powder form is much appreciated.

Now theBalm has an entire line of Manizer Sisters, but be careful.  One is for bronzing and the other is for contouring.  Mary Lou however is the highlighting one.  Some has compared to Becca's Opal and others have duped it down to Elf's Moonlight Pearl Baked Highlighter.

I have tried Opal and like it better but this definitely has the better price point.  Elf?  I don't know.  I have not tried, but that would definitely be a better price point

Becca Opal

Boost your complexion with NYX Cosmetics vitamin E and pro-vitamin B5 infused Lavender CC Cream. This sheer foundation helps your skin look perfect. Watch the shades shift from lavender to a sheer, natural looking skin tone.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I love it.  I have steered away from more heavy foundations since I started exercising more and have found this product to be amazing.  It gives a lovely, light and uniform finish.  Again I am not sponsored by NYX Cosmetics, but will continue to support them since their products are seemingly unparalleled.

This product has a brightening effect however they have other colors (peach and green) to help with other color correcting concerns.

How do you tell what color correction you need?  Simply look on the color wheel.

If you have redness to your skin, you look to the contract color green.  Blues, look toward the peach.  Yellow tones the purple.  I have quite neutral skin without a lot of redness so I can use both the peach and the lavender.  Just watch how it swatches and blends out for a brightening effect.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I love it.  It is perfect for a gym bag because this color provides either a light swipe with a finger or build for more coverage.  It is sparkly but neutral beautifulness.  There I am making up words again.

Satin is the middle swatch, but my other favorites are cashmere (left) and silk (right)
It also comes in a a number of neutral shades.

What is it?

Influenced by the hues of urban architecture, the palette features 12 better-than-neutral shades to flatter the eyes, season after season.
Richly pigmented eye shadows apply smoothly and blend easily to create a range of looks.
Versatile, dual-ended eye shadow brush delivers professional results. Black eye liner pencil completes the look.

Features and Benefits
  • Includes a dual ended brush and a black eye liner pencil.
  • Paraben free formulas.

What does Ms. Faux think?

The colors are very neutral with some great highlight, transition and liner shades.  Some matte, some with sparkle.  12 colors in all.  Pigmentation is excellent.  I love the colors Industry, Metro & Hub.  Really fun urban names otherwise like Uptown, Ditrict, Urban, & Downtown.  Comes with a black liner and a brush that isn't the best brush, but certainly not terrible.  The colors are such a win if you like the neutral look like Ms. Faux do.

  • What does Ms. Faux think?

I like it and it was the other highlighter that Ms. Faux fell in love with and probably this one a little more as it was a cream to powder finish that I just love.  Cream gives you the ability to move it more, but I love the dry down of the powder.  The perfect highlight.  Know however this line is also blushes that are just as wonderful.  I just happened to like the highlighter more.

So there you go.  Five products that Ms. Faux just loves.
