So I shared my #30daysofselfcare project with some friends of mine because I think everyone is deserving of self care. I'm so proud of them because a few have taken it on. Yay! The main reason I did it though is because if I have something that helps me I want to share it.
Self Care to me translates to different things to different people. Their first question was valid because it was, "what do I do?" "What is self care?" It's a valid question and one I haven't been able to wrap my brain around completely. I shared the following chart that helps.
To me Self-Care means mindfully and deliberately doing something for yourself to make you feel better. My examples of what I hope to achieve have been eating better, exercising, meditating and pampering myself. Pampering is pretty easy to explain but with pampering make sure you carve that time out for you without any interruptions. That is why I chose to start this journey at King Spa. It's a spa. Your phone is to be turned off and it's better if you leave it in your locker.

If anything starts getting too hot, I recommend cooling off in the ice room. I make pit stops here throughout my stay. They also have a salt room, amethyst room, gold room, charcoal room and ochre room to name a few. Seriously check out their website. Groupon is currently running a special as well.
Lastly before I left I ate a delicious soup with kimchi and a bottle of water. Perfect not to toxify my body after releasing all my toxins. Note: King Spa has both a women's section as well as a communal area with men and women. When you are with the women you are naked and not allowed to wear a bathing suit. Should know that going in. Seriously though there are women of all shapes and sizes there. No one is looking. I'm the most modest person ever and I have never felt uncomfortable.
Next in the day I came home for a 2 hour cat nap. Seriously... it was a nap with a cat. My baby Simba as a matter of fact. When I woke up I watched a little tv and then prepared to go to yoga.
I love Corepower Yoga for many reasons. Bikram yoga is so long and this I feel kind of mixes hot yoga and engages your core with their class Hot Power Fusion.
Now it was a struggle I will tell you. I had cervical and thoracic spine issues about a year ago that I was put on steroids for. Aside from the weight gain that made it difficult I think steroids on the body do dangerous things and my body is not itself right now. Still... I went and I felt great. The teacher even talked to me about my spine and encouraged me to come back because while it is a struggle now, it will be something that helps my back. I will definitely be back to her class next Sunday.
So there it is. More self care in a day than I have likely done in a year. So here is a reminder...
I hope any of you will join me in my self care journey. I will be twittering about it as well at @fauxprah4real so please follow me and #30daysofselfcare #fauxprah.
Tomorrow's plans include a short walk/run in the morning and restorative yoga in the evening. I also hope to get out for a quick walk at lunch and continue my path to eat well all day tomorrow and drink my water.
So there you go hunties. I encourage you to invite your friends and follow along for the month of November. There is no better day than today.
One last thing, Ms. Faux will likely be posting these posts at night as opposed to during the day like she does her other ones or even the day after. I want to include all steps of self-care that I embark on during the day. Since sleep in another discipline I'm working on that means I likely will not be on the computer too late.
