So here we go... Good to be back. Still a little under the weather but not as bad as I was. Thank you for your patience. To start off, don't worry we aren't mad at Ms. Ru who usually graces Fab Five Friday, but I thought I would grace it with other figures that I think are downright fabulous and that includes one of my favorite queens of all time, Ms. Bianca Del Rio. Werk!
Anyway... here are the fabulous five products that kept Ms. Faux from looking a fool. And don't worry it won't be tylenol, vick's cold and flu, etc... :) If you want that check out Ms. Faux's earlier blog on her Favorite Medicine Cabinet Remedies.
1. By Terry Baume de Rose $60 at VioletGrey.com
What is it? According to Violet Grey.com...
This multi-protective, and nutri-replenishing treatment enhances and strengthens lips and nails. Over-concentrated in lipid-boosting and nourishing active ingredients, this balm lastingly repairs and protects lips and nail contours. Its ultra-rich, rose-scented formula moisturizes and soothes the driest and most delicate areas, without feeling sticky.
What does Ms. Faux think?
I am a believer in this product and do love it sooooo very much. I think it is one of the best. It has a cult following in Hollywood and is absolutely a luxury at $60 for lip balm. Ms. Faux was given hers as a gift and thank God because I don't know that I could shell out that much. Still it is amazing. For a more pocketbook friendly version try Bite Agave Lip Mask $26 at Sephora.com.
Still I do like this much more as it isn't as sticky and I do use it as a night time only mask for my lips prior to going to sleep. Otherwise I find it a little too pale for everyday use. That being said they do make it in different colors and you can get those at BeautyBar.com.
2. Cover FX Cream Concealer $27 @ Sephora.com
What is it? According to Sephora.com...
What it is:
A water-based liquid cream concealer offering medium to full coverage.
What it does:
This concealer is designed to provide buildable coverage for both the undereye area and face to conceal imperfections, darkness, and discolorations.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates
What else you need to know:
The Cover FX shade system is easier to follow and is inclusive of all skintones. Cover FX created more shades with each shade scientifically three percent darker than the previous shade in the series. Find your undertone (underlying skintone): P = Pink, N = Neutral (equal parts pink and golden), G = Golden. The lower the number, the lighter the shade. Start with the N series if you're not sure what your undertone is. If the shade looks too Pink, find your shade in the Golden undertones. If the shade looks too Yellow, find your shade in the Pink undertones.
This product is clinically tested, vegan, and does not contain gluten, mineral oil, or talc.
What does Ms. Faux think?
Oh good lord. While I was sick I looked like the saddest panda with dark circles under my eyes. Not pretty unless you are a panda, which coincidentally is my spirit animal.
I have to say Cover FX was there for a sista when I looked like hell. I don't have incredibly bad dark circles under my eyes but while sick my sinus cavities made my eyes look as if they were sunk into the back of my skull. This covered beautifully and did not crease. I dare say one of my preferred concealers that I have ever used.
3. Zoya Matte Velvet Nail Polish in "Sue" $10 at Zoya.com
What is it? According to Zoya.com...
Sue by Zoya can be best described as a soft champagne gold with a multi-hued oyster shell pearl fleck in the traditional MatteVelvet finish.
Finish - Matte
Intensity - 5 ( 1 = Sheer - 5 = Opaque )
Tone - Warm
What does Ms. Faux think?
Who would have thought that Ms. Faux would have jumped on the matte nail polish bandwagon. I always thought it looked cheap, but then determined it is all in the color.
This gorgeous champagne color called, "Sue" from Zoya is just stunning. How stunning. When I was trying to determine which one to get in a buy two get one free sell even the sales lady was like, "well of course you are keeping that one." I mean... duh. So gorgeous. Actually Ms. Faux is a new fan of this line and will likely be doing a full piece on them very soon as they have some of the most exquisite colors. It's so Andre Leon Talley...
4. Cover Girl The Super Sizer Mascara $7.49 at Ulta.com.
What is it? According to Ulta.com...
The CoverGirl Super Sizer Mascara gives you 400% more volume for fuller lashes. Opthalmologically tested, suitable for those who wear contacts.
What does Ms. Faux think?
Forgive Ms. Faux because I think I have reviewed this before, but you know if it is making a second or third appearance it has to be good. Also Cover Girl is known for its mascaras. They seem to have figured it out.
It does give massive volume and made Ms. Faux's sad little sick eyes not look so sunken during this awful week. The brush is also great to grab and coat every lash and it also did not irritate my sensitive eyes. A mascara favorite.
5. Flower Cosmetics Sheer Up Lip Tint in Blossom $7.98 at Walmart.com
What is it? According to walmart.com...
What does Ms. Faux think?
It was listed as a Best Beauty Buy by Family Circle and Ms. Faux agrees. This color is a gorgeous, taupey, purply and sheer tint. I love it with either a matte purple/grey eye that I have been rocking this week because I ran my face into a door and well the purple tones I've been wearing have covered it pretty well. PS. When dealing with Ms. Faux's clutziness it is best to no ask questions and just know she has a hard time walking and talking at the same time. :)
Anyway the shine on this products reminds me of MAC's Pattentpolish Lip Pencils $20 at MacCosmetics.com. While they are not as smooth, they do pack the glossy look at a fraction of the cost.
So there you go hunties.
Have you tried Any of these products? What did you think?
