Faux's Favorite Palettes: Buxom & NYX (High End and Affordable)

So palettes are on overdrive this year hunties.  Here are a couple more I found that are both high end and drug store options.  Note the palettes that appear here are generally ones that I love.  I'm not really purchasing ones that I'm pretty sure I don't like, so know these are the palettes that have risen above the rest.  Enough for Ms. Faux to spend her almighty dollar.  Also I've included a true FAUX FAVE in the end.

What is it?  According to Sephora.com...

What it is:
A 15-piece collection of mini Full-On® Lip Polishes and Lip Creams.

What it does:
The Full-On Lip Polish & Lip Cream Set features mini sizes of lip polishes and lip creams that let you experiment with tingling, lip-plumping looks in nudes, pinks, reds, and plums. Glide on each lip color’s shimmering and glass-smooth finish to leave lips saturated in decadent shine.

This set contains:
- 8 x 0.07 Mini Full-On Lip Polish in Bunny (fresh peach nectar), Jennifer (flirty fuchsia), Olivia (pink disco), Sandy (almost naked), Sophia (sweetheart pink), Starr (sweetheart pink), Taylor (crimson flame), Zoe (dazzling orchid)
- 7 x 0.07 Mini Full-On Lip Cream in Berry Blast (vivid fuchsia), Cherry Flip (red poppy), Dolly (sultry mauve), Hot Toddy (toasty nude), Pink Lady (electric pink), Purple Haze (ripe grape), White Russian (nude pink)

What does Ms. Faux think?

First of all I love lip gloss.  Second... Buxom makes one of the best lip glosses ever.  They are deliciously vanilla scented but with a slight minty feel on the lips which helps to plump them a bit more.

The color selection here is incredible and very wearable.  Ms. Faux is very pale and so the light ones I was very concerned about, however the lightest one was absolutely AMAZING.  A lovely nude for a very simple look.  So... for that price (less than half of what you would pay for the entire collection otherwise), you get to test out new colors and play around with color on your lips.

I however found more value in the bigger set so that is the one I selected.

So there is the high end, now for affordable and it is a little pricey, however you are getting so dang much and it is the God of all affordable make up...

NYX Butt Naked Underneath It All $24.99 at Ulta.com

What is it?  According to Ulta.com...

NYX Cosmetics' Butt Naked - Underneath It All is a collection of 15 neutral eye shadows, 4 blushes, and 3 highlighters. Create various looks for both day and night.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I mean.... look at the possibilities and it is amazingly neutral.  Ms. Faux can't wait to get all up that turquoisey shade in the 4th row/4th over.  Also these colors rival some of the higher end palettes (that are $50 and over mind you).  There are 7 shimmery shades and 8 matte shades and it doesn't stop there.  Slide out the bottom part of the palette and there are 4 gorgeous blushes (1 shimmery & 3 matte) and 3 gorgeous highlight shades that will tickle your champagne, rose gold and golden fancy.  Stunning.

Now all that being said Ms. Faux had one issue... I had trouble figuring out the packaging because the blush/highlighter tray slides out.  I was trying to hinge it open and almost broke the palette.  But... and I mean butt, they called it "Butt Naked," so you know I'm a fan.

And now my last...  Were I having a favorite things party, I think at this moment this would be my favorite thing.

What is it?  According to Ulta.com...

Only at ULTA! The Rosebud Lip Balm Trio is a set with the perfect blend of flavors to take on vacation or to use at home.

An $18 Value!

Lip Balm Trio Includes:
  • Rosebud Salve Tube (0.5 oz.)
  • Minted Rose Lip Balm Tube (0.5 oz.)
  • Rose & Mandarin Lip Balm Tube (0.5 oz.)

What does Ms. Faux think?

Hunties... if you don't know about Smith's Rosebud Salve, I don't know what i can do to help you, but I'm gonna try.  This is one of the best lip balm's in the world.  It is a cult favorite and it is affordable (usually $6 a tube).  This set is a $3 savings.  Normally I would caution against a gift set having a stinker in it that may not make the $3 savings worth it, but not this one.

First you get the original Rosebud Salve.  Heaven!  The product that started it all.

Then you get a minted rose version.  Perfect when your lips are a little sore and need that cool feeling.

Then you get my favorite, the Rose & Mandarin lip balm.  It tastes delicious.  It will remind any southerner of that Instant Tang Spiced Hot Tea that everyone knows about and drinks despite its crazy ingredients.  As I write this my friend is asking about recipe so I will put it in another post today.

Back to lip gloss.  Seriously this balm stacks up against Dior, By Terry and has stood the test of time at $6 per convenient tube (it is also available in tins).

This is a perfectly delicious set that I will definitely be gifting if I can find it at my local Ulta as it is a Ulta exclusive gift set.

So there you go.  Some more of Ms. Faux's most recently favorite holiday palettes.

Have you tried Any of these products?  What did you think?
