Round 1: Price Point - Both at $12.99 this is a draw as the price is exactly the same for pretty much the same amount of product. Granted the Maybelline palette does have a blush, I'm not going to give them the round based on that. You will see why below.
Round 2: The Color - The L'Oreal Palette is more grey based which is better for contouring usually. Now if Maybelline marketed this as a bronzer palette, I might have changed my tune. This rounds goes to L'Oreal. More wearable color without looking ruddy.
Round 3: The formulation - Both are fairly similar and work quite well in terms of the type of product (not the color). This round is a draw.
Round 4: Packaging - They are both pretty inexpensive packaging and I like that you can see through them. This round is a draw.
Round 5: Bells & Whistles - L'Oreal's product comes with a brush and Maybelline's with a blush. Both I feel are unnecessary. I think you will grab for another brush for the L'Oreal product and while yes Maybelline gives a blush, there isn't anything spectacular about it. It seems to just be following this contouring/bronzing trend that I have seen in compacts like the Urban Decay Naked Flush palette or the Tanya Burr Rosy Flush Cheek Palette. This round is a draw.
The Decision:
This was a narrow win, but one in a category that I think is very important and that is color and for that I award it to L'Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette.
Were I to do it over again, this is definitely the one that I would choose and only this one.
