Fab Friday: 1.8.2015

So first to start off Fab Five Friday is Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead.  I adore Lemmy.  My teenage years were pretty much spent with Lemmy blaring through my headphones telling me it was alright to be different.  Coolest man in the world.  If you don't know he passed recently.  My world would not have been same without him.  To Lemmy, the original ACE OF SPADES.

Now to the products that have helped me out this week.  All of you know how much I'm in love with the Sonia Kashuk Fair & Squared Eyeshadow Quad as well as the Sleek Cosmetics Precious Metals Highlighting Palettes so I'm going to try to veer off of those which trust... they are still in use.  Here are five other products standing the test of time... at least for this week.

What is it?  According to Sephora.com...

What it is:
A package of innovative, adhesive, clear acne patches that help to eliminate blemishes and minimize the spread of bacteria.

What it is formulated to do:
Each fully concentrated adhesive patch—designed specifically for the affected area—comes in two custom sizes that allow for complete coverage, protecting from infection and preventing the spread of acne-causing bacteria. Salicylic acid works overnight and throughout the day to effectively reduce and heal blemishes, tea tree oil, a natural astringent, helps clarify and refresh skin while inhibiting the spread of bacteria, and hyaluronic acid is a natural humectant that helps hydrate skin to combat excessive drying and irritation.

What else you need to know:
Because treatment is contained to affected area only, product will not rub off or cause unnecessary irritation or dryness to surrounding skin. In six sheets of 12, Acne-Clear Invisible Dots are translucent, minimizing visibility when worn.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I love them.  I don't get large patches of acne but more just blemishes every now and then.  Recently I have been very stressed so I had Mt. Vesuvius pop up on my chin.  I slapped one of these on for two nights in a row as I drifted off to sleep and blemish has seriously diminished.

I know that sounds like every claim, but I'm not sure you all are aware of the situation I had.  It was ridiculous.

Now... while I don't recommend their notion that this can be worn during the day, it works wonders overnight.  Yes it is fairly invisible but still it is basically like you have translucent tape on your skin. You will know it is there.

What is it?  According to Walgreens.com...

  • Body-boosting spray gel creates all-over powerful fullness
  • Amplifies hair's natural volume
  • Achieves all-day hold
  • Adds shine to any hairstyle
  • One 5.7 fl oz bottle

*strength against damage

What does Ms. Faux think?

I do not know what is in this product, but I think it is magic.  I can't tell you what it is but it just makes my hair look shiny and manageable.  I have very fine hair which is code for fly aways.  For some reason when I spray this on my damp hair fly aways go away and I have body.  That never happens.  So yeah whatever this is... I'm converted.  My crazy quick 3 minute hair looks instantly better.

What is it?  According to Sephora.com...

What it is:
A moisturizer with a hint of shimmering color.

What it does:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Illuminating is a lightweight, buildable sheer foundation formula that delivers a youthful, radiant finish.

What else you need to know:
Protecting skin from the damaging rays of the sun with SPF 20 protection, this skin-friendly formula contains a unique Dewy Complex that is proven to keep the skin moisturized and better equipped to combat external aggressors and irritants. Layer with other foundations for a custom blend and radiant finish. It's dermatologist-tested.

What does Ms. Faux think?

I have mentioned recently that my skin is looking dehydrated and less lustrous than it usually does.  Part of this is winter, but the biggest part is that I'm not drinking enough water.  This product is like miracle in a tube and gives a lovely illuminated finish to the skin.  Made it look like I was drinking every oz. of the 64 recommended ounces of water.

Now... I'm not promoting just using this product and skipping water.  Until my water consumption and skin health get back on track though, this is what I will be using.

It has a lovely, silky clean finish and is very light coverage.  Perfect for Ms. Faux's regular day make up and for Sundays.  If you are looking for higher coverage, this is not for you.

A replenishing face primer that hydrates, smoothes, and brightens skin for a dewy, healthy looking finish.

It can be worn alone for a dewy, healthy looking finish, or under bronzers, foundations, and powders to create the perfect canvas.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This product is cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and silicone-free.

Research results:

What does Ms. Faux think?

Well as you may recall this was given as Ms. Clayton's gift during Ms. Faux's Annual Favorite Things Party (click this link for more information on those gifts).  I do think this is an amazing 1 - 2 punch with the Laura Mercier Illuminizing tinted moiturizer.  I think without these two products Ms. Faux might look a big ol' mess with her crazy dry skin.

What does Ms. Faux think?

Well I'm not going to give a full on review of this product right now because I just started using it this week, but I have used it religiously and so far I like the results but I know it is early on.  One thing I can say is that my face has been extremely dry lately and a bit stressed and it has managed to calm it. It also smells amazing and is a very soothing product at night.

Now I do think it is incredibly expensive and no I did not buy the $105 bottle.  I had a gift card which I use for extravagant purchases such as this and Sephora had a nifty set called the Power Couple Duo: Total Transformation Kit that I could try it for $76 along with Sunday Riley's Good Genes Treatment also $105 at Sephora.com.  Win.  Win.  I thought I would give them both a try and report back, but so far it is helping my stressed skin and inviting me into a lovely night's sleep.

So there it is... the top 5 products that kept Ms. Faux from looking a fool.
